if he can come back and play i have no problems with it.. the flyers will need another vet down the road and adding him to the PK will only make it better.. i love harry Z and rinaldo just as much as the next guy, but adding betts instead of one of them will make the team more well rounded.. IMO

as it stands the flyers have no cap concerns, with all the LTIR room they have like 4.3 mil in space (with shelley still on the roster).. and betts is like 900k.. having him as the 13th or 14th forward is a good thing

We have proved we can survive without Shitty why dont we just send him down and relieve ourselves of the cap space and if someone claims him so be it. That way even though i think he is washed up we an put Betts on the roster.

The good thing about this is that if he is healthy he has some trade value as a bottom 6 F who is a great penalty killer, he could grab us a later pick or be filler in a package for someone we want.

i dont really think he has much value in terms of trades.. but i think he could be useful in the playoffs over rinaldo or harry z.. adding another PK'er like betts could really come in handy in the playoffs.. the flyers are a very mediocre 82% on the PK

He did actually get 9 minutes of ice time last night however, which is about twice as much as usual since it was a blowout and he got far more shifts than usual in the third.

Agreed you can never have enough depth especially when it comes to special teams in the playoffs. I'm just so impressed with Couturier that I've forgotten about Betts efforts in the past. This kid will hit 20 goals as he's rolling now.

Jody did his thing tonight its too bad that he slowed down after Philly got him or he'd be more effective. On a good note no cheap shots on players last night and the wild can be gritty...very gritty. So IMO he did his job.
