I have us winning 86, and the Mutts and Turdinals winning 85. That would leave a one game Mutt/Turd playoff Monday at STL. Likely Lugo @ Leake, STL wins and travels to AT&T on Tuesday to have Reyes face Poopturdzija.

Say we win, that sets up Bum @ Arrieta on Thursday 10/6.

Interesting -- but I'm just not emotionally invested in this team. Interested, but not invested.

I wonder how the dogs will play us next weekend. If we're still battling for a spot, will they go ALL out to keep us out , or strategically rest some for the first round?

They are our rival. I would guess that they would go all out.

I have not looked at their rotation, but if the pitch Kershaw in 162 to knock us out, that would be stupid of them. They need to set their rotation for the Nats. As far as their everyday players, they will edge towards playing, but rest who needs it.

Basically, I would expect them to go at about 85%.

As it currently stands, the rotation for them would be Kershaw, Hill and Maeda in the season ending series against us.

They will have 4 days off, so they would actually prefer to have Kershaw pitch in the finale so his first game against the Nats will be regular rest for him. But that would hurt Maeda, putting him on a long rest.

Looking closer to home, assuming the Giants get into the WC (huge assumption) and actually win that game (huger assumption), they will be facing a Cubs team that hasn't played a game in 4 days and hasn't played a meaningful game in over a month. And the Billy Goat will be wearing orange and black.

I didn't realize that if we got to that point, the Cubs would be the opponent in the NLDS. Interesting....

And a short series gives the underdog team (us) a slightly better chance than a long one
