Probably one of the MOST awful matchups we as Broncos fans have to endure. It should have been us.

But for the love of America's game, I'll go ahead and post a thread.
IMG_8221.jpeg

I think Seattle wins. Their defense is dominant, Sam Darnold and that offense move the ball very well when they have to. Darnold's veteran presence edges out Maye's young inexperience.

I HATE Seattle. It primarily goes back to Feb 2014. The cocky Legion of Boom and the intolerable Seahacks fans.

I begrudgingly will have to hope for the Pats to win though because my hatred of Seattle won't allow me to ever pull for them.

Truth be told, I'm praying for the meteor at the 50 yard line with 7:54 left in the 4th quarter. Sigh. It is what it is.

I am throwing 3 racks of spare ribs on the smoker at noon (mountain time). Some guests are bringing appetizers and desserts.

As for the halftime show, I won't be watching Bad Bunny. I'll be tuning into the Turning Point USA Halftime Show featuring Kid Rock over the NFL's woke agenda crap.

Reply below with what you're making for the big game. Food, appetizers and desserts.

I was a huge Sam Darnold fan when he was in the draft. Will definitely be cheering hard for him. Probably my favorite QB outside of Bo Nix in the league and love seeing him finally get some success.

Go Seachickens. Hate the Pats more than any team other than Raiders and Chiefs. I will be at daughter's volleyball tournament hours away from home so will be watching on a slight delay as I drive home and not doing much for food. Maybe a pizza and some wings................

You wanted this thread... now you lay in it!!
I'm fine with the thread.

The Star Spangled Banner and that awesome flyover were the best part of this game.

After watching Maye in the playoffs I'm glad he didn't win MVP. He shouldn't have won it anyway, but he folded in the playoffs. Yes his team won 3 games, but he looked terrible in every one of those games. His defense giving up 8 points per game and forcing turnovers at ridiculous levels is the only reason the Patriots were in the Super Bowl. Well that and playing either a banged up roster, a QB seeing ghosts, or a backup.

This will always be the season of what if. What if Nix doesn't break his ankle? Maybe the Broncos lose that game against the Seahawks but we would have looked better than whatever that crap was by the Patriots.

Maye was never as good as his season said he was.

I'm very interested to see how the Pats handle more attention coming their way and playing a 1st place schedule compared to last place one like this past season. Maybe Maye takes another step and they are just fine, but I could see them being a team that has about a 4-5 game difference in record compared to this year.

100% on the record difference, but that is the case with just about every team. The NFL is such a year to year league now. One interesting story line with the Pats is their offensive line and especially Will Campbell their LT both of which just aren't that good. That was the worst performance by LT in super bowl history. Even as an LSU fan I didn't think he was a surefire franchise LT. He just doesn't have the build for it.

I wasn’t really rooting for either team yesterday. I never want to see either team have this kind of success, but it is what it is. Fun fact, the Patriots now have 6 Super Bowl losses, more than any other team. Of course, that’s a little more palatable when you’ve 6 wins as well, but 6 losses makes for great football trivia.

I definitely think the Broncos with a healthy Nix would have made for a far better game. There is still a part of me that believes the Patriots shouldn’t even have been there, but a brutal turn of football fate timed perfectly for them helped tremendously. Of course they still had to do what they had to do, and to their credit they came in and did JUST ENOUGH to beat a team starting a backup who hadn’t attempted a pass in 2 seasons.

This one is definitely going to sting for a while. I really hope it powers the 2026 Broncos on and “unfinished business” type campaign later this year. I hope playing the Broncos is the most soul crushing week of the season to our opponents.

And I hope in the playoffs we don’t lose our QB. Sometimes the teams in the Super Bowl aren’t the best teams, sometimes they’re the luckiest.

I was telling someone in another thread that he has the power you would expect at Center, the height/build of a LT, but the arms of a guard. Not sure what you do with that. I don't think a move inside will do much good because he will only face bigger/stronger guys on the interior and his short arms showed up more against power rushers than anyone that could get their hands into his chest and drive him back. Tough to see how that pick turns into a good one for the Pats.

And true the worst to first teams usually do see a decent decline the next year. They are helped by the Dolphins and Jets being in complete chaos for at least another couple of years so that is most likely 4 wins right there. I do think the Pats are a good team, but if I were ranking the AFC teams and how I think they will be next year they might be 6th or 7th on my list. I would have the Broncos, Ravens, Bills, Chargers, Texans, and Jags all over them. I would say the Chiefs but I don't know what the recovery window looks like for Mahomes.

Luck is part of the game. I can say that our 2015 run was a mixture of luck and talent. The defense was obviously very elite, but we also had some balls bounce our way on the path to winning the Super Bowl. Fumbles are a tricky thing to predict, but most of them found their way into our players' hands.

This year unfortunately we got about as unlucky as any team in playoff history with the injury to Bo. I was proud all season of seeing how this team overcame some very controversial things that went against us. The Giants game with some very questionable flags for example. It seemed like every other game we had a call that was very close either way and it always seemed like we were on the bad end of the call, yet our team found a way to win. Turnovers were another thing that I think next year we could see a huge uptick as they are year to year and this year we had so many dropped INT's or lack of fumbles caused.

I like the Broncos even more today.
Fake Maye was a turnover machine when he played quality defenses.Thats on him.

New England won’t sniff the Super Bowl again unless they get to play a backup QB

Luck is definitely a part of it, no doubt about it. But catching your opponent as they lose their starting QB going into the conference championship game…that’s gotta be one of the top 5 luckiest things in all of football history. It’s definitely a bigger dose of luck that a call or bounce here or there.

But you raise another very interesting point. We seems to be very unlucky with a lot of those 50/50 calls, balls bouncing back into the other team’s hands, etc. We also played and won a lot of 1-score games, with some observers who actually didn’t watch suggesting such a good record in 1-score games suggests a little luck favoring us.

And then you have regression to the mean: most teams are around .500 in 1-score games.

Throw all of these narratives in the blender and we can probably put expect to see the media talking heads predicting 9 or 10 wins for the Broncos because it’ll be the standard retreads.

Maybe they do regress in 1-score games. I’m confident they will, but they’ll be in fewer of them. I think the 2026 team wins more games by 10 or more. Not ready to predict a record yet, but even with what appears to be a stout slate of opponents, I won’t be surprised by 11-12 wins.

I'm with you. Maybe we are not as good in those 1 score games but I would expect this offense to be a lot more consistent and the defense to force a few more turnovers giving the team more scoring opportunities. Nix in the same system in year 3 also I think should help this team in ways few are talking about.

Division wise I think next year will come down to the Broncos and Chargers again. The Mahomes injury/recovery is still a bit unknown but there is some talk he could miss the first month of the season if not more. And when he does come back he will not be 100%. They also find themselves in the worst cap situation in the division by quite a large margin. Yes they can re-work the Mahomes contract, but they will have to do more than just that especially if they want to make any moves. If the Chiefs are to once again lead the division to me it comes down to Mahomes recovery and them leaning very heavily on the draft to recoup.

Chargers if they are healthy are a very difficult team. They have more cap space than us but they also have more key guys hitting FA. Mack, Johnson, Allen, Oweh, and most of their OL depth (what little they had) are all FA's this offseason. Our biggest worry is our LB core but I don't think anyone is questioning the Broncos could easily improve on that unit from last season.
