He was probably going to skip the French Open anyway.

Hopefully he'll be fully healthy for the Olympics.

What is the knee surgery going to do? What will it fix?

It usually is a diagnostic surgery to determine how bad the cartilage tear or meniscus (in between the two leg bones at the knee) tear is. I hope it’s not just a diagnostic surgery but also repairs as well. I have a weak left knee myself so I can relate.

I just hope it doesn't become career ending...he is getting too old to make a big comeback

I have a feeling he is nearing the end. Hope he says goodbye this year after Wimby and takes care of his body and stay involved with his off tennis charity and tennis related work.

he's got how many kids now?

I would love to see him do like Sampras and win one more slam and call it quits

The best ever, got to think though this off-time and injury will make him think about his future. He's 40 next year so retirement could be in his thoughts right now.

Federer is still playing very well.

If he can keep that level up after his knee surgery, then he's still a factor.

Getting through 7 rounds is hard, but most of the time, he can play against normal players, and the top players, very well.

We will see how he looks when he comes back.

As long as his timing and anticipation is there, he can keep playing.

Grass is his favorite surface. He needs to play a warm up event though
