In no particular order (I'm sure this will change tomorrow, lol)...

Van Halen
King's X
Living Colour
Jane's Addiction
Smashing Pumpkins
Jimi Hendrix Experience
Aerosmith
ZZ Top
Otis Redding
NOFX

Wanted to include some others, but they may have periods that have faded my interest (recent Flaming Lips, 90's Metallica, etc).

Yeah, 10 isn't enough!

Heck, I could go with your list, in toto! If I were to change it, i would cheat and add two of my favorite American "Solo" artists.
Guess I would change Heart for J J Cale, and Black Crowes for Warren Zevon. Although I replace those two, don't get the idea that I don't like ,em!

I can't get in to most Nu Metal.

I hate pop. I hate country. I hate do-wop oldies. I hate faggy 80's hair bands. I hate whiny punk. Classic rock was mostly whatever tolerable background noise as was classical, blues, jazz and alternative.

Original metal bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Slayer I have just never had a deep interest in because they're all about the wailing guitars and I'm not. I'm more attracted to structured bassy grooves that express the darker sides of humanity.

...That's pretty much why I listened almost exclusively to rap through most of the 90's. It wasn't until my "Tier 1" bands came out that I began migrating away from rap and towards what's often classified as "nu-metal".

You kids need to simmer down, though. The title says 'favorite' --- not 'best.'

What's you opinion on the band, Petra?

I think John Lawry is a decent keyboard player; he kind of gave them a sort of Toto meets Kansas vibe. As a whole, I think their material was good and au courant enough at the time to hang with anything out in the late 70's and 80's (when I first heard them).

I've never heard of them! Just looked at Spotify and it's hard to believe I haven't. I'll check them out.
