Who is the current “Face of the Franchise”?

I figure there are really only 3 contenders…

1) Logan Webb - the unquestioned Ace of the staff. Might be the best SP in the NL. Home grown and from the Bay Area (an As fan, unfortunately, but no one is perfect).

2) Matt Chapman - Arguably the best 3B in the game. Hard to have a FA only in his 2nd, but Chapman has dedicated himself to the org in a way few players do (similar to Hunter Pence).

3) Jung Hoo Lee - Like Chapman, hard to list a guy only in his 2nd season with the team, but technically, he is “home grown”, so that isn't really a knock against him. The marketing potential he brings and his zest for the game is contagious and the fans have really gravitated to him unlike anything they have done since Melky, probably.

I think all 3 have a very legit claim to the title. Gun to my head, I think I would have to give it Webb, but I could easily make a convincing argument for either of the other 2.

Who you got?

Before the start of the season, I'd go with Webb. However, I think Lee's popularity has already given him the title.

And, for the record, I am very happy to admit I've been very wrong about Lee's success at the big league level. I did not expect this level of production but am very glad to see him doing well.

Very interesting question. Never thought about it till now.. Really hard to answer ...
Some passing thoughts ...
Been a Giant fan since 1953 (8 years old) ... lived in NY at the time. Grew up with them. Remember many old time players ... for me it was probably Mays who I have the fondest memories of ...
Then they moved ... and now I realize that it's very difficult to see anyone as the face of rhe franchise without being local to the team. Biggest loss is the media coverage of your team. They are really the people that market the franchise and the players themselves. Without the local coverage my biggest source of Giant coverage is here.
I'd have to go with Webb simplly because I've been aware of him for quite a few years. Most of all I know about him is what I see and read here. Both Chapman and JHL are both new enties to me. Alrhough they both have really good skills and a SF presence .... i have no fan based relationship to them. I know nothing much about them expect what I read here. Also ... both are relativelt new to the team ..

Chappy made it clear before he signed with us that the Giiants were his first choice on where to sign. Then, he wanted to extend his contract with us, but the GM at the time was hesitant to get it done, but he still made it happen by essentially going over the POBO’s head to work out a deal. He has also been the vocal front for the org the entire time, openly recruiting players to come to SF.

He is “new”, and was already well established by the time he got here, but there are some players that just mesh well (think Pence).
