It's amazing how much things have changed, isn't it? - Of course, it doesn't hurt to have so many guys allowed in the pit box to help out. :D

One of the "keys" to how Ray Haroun won the 1st Indy 500 was that, thanks to pre-race testing, he figured out that if he kept his average speed at around 75 mph his tires wouldn't wear out at anywhere near the rate which they would if he was going 80+ mph, so he ended up making one less pit stop (which took a lot longer than 67 seconds in those days) than all of the other cars.
