Some guys get it. Rolston is obviously one of those guys. Him admitting that he hasn't lived up to his contract doesn't make everyone forget the situation and doesn't get him off the hook for some shoddy play, but it does get him some respect. Denying that anything is wrong just pisses the fans off more. Kudos to him. And I sure as hell hope he starts lighting it up when he gets on the ice because we damn sure need it.
I think most of Devils nation feels the same way here. The contract is what everyone is focused on here and his output just magnifies it more.
Kovy will soon find this out if he doesn't start producing. Think about it, at his current production rate right now, he'll be on pace for around 20 goals this year. People who jump on Zubrus for not showing up with his contract should most def be on Kovy should his production fall way short from previous years.
Kovy is getting off easy since every player is awful right now.
As with Rolston - He's been injured and out of games way too much and he's never been playing as well as he can when he's actually in the lineup. He has the defensive ability and still has a nasty shot to be a productive NHL player, just not a $5 mil NHL player.
