If you do, be careful. I picked one up on ebay and attempted to refurbish my worn 60 degree wedge. It worked great....too great. After doing some reading, I fear that I made the club illegal.

I don't feel like I widened the grooves any but the edges are so sharp, I can stop the ball in its tracks with a simple pitch shot. When I take a full swing, I'm picking strands of surlyn out of the grooves. I tried sanding the face down to minimize it but no dice....it's still shaving balls.

I'd hate to get called out in the club championship or something so I'm going to retire the club. Anyone seeing this club putting the breaks on like that on a short shot around the green is likely to question it. I just went on ebay and found a replacement club with a clean face so I learned my lesson.

Lol. Homer going for some serious jizz for his balls.

Why not just get another one? Always a good thing having a few sand wedges. If you don’t like it get rid of it

@NEhomer ever think about getting a 58 degree? I’ve never been a 60 guy. Always had a 56 and back then I was good enough to open it up if I had to.

But most PW are around 48.. GW 52... SW/LW 58?

Thats what I have now and my 52 might even be bent to a 53. Gap wedge is my favorite club. Love being 105-115 out with that in my hands.

The 58 SM wedges by Titleist are great. Just find the bounce that works for you.

I have a 58 LW and a 56 SW. My SW needs replacing, i think I'll go with a 54.

And fuck having 4 wedges to those that do.

Unless you got time for all that. 3 is enough for me to try to figure out

Find out what loft your PW is and get something in the middle. The 58 I can get about 90 yards maybe more. So 90-100 can be tricky but I can 3/4 my GW and still be fairly accurate.

Did you read my post? That's what I'm doing. I found a nice used replacement for around 30bucks on ebay.

I wish I could use the modified one. Lol! Toss it straight to the hole and it grabs like a cat's claw!

BTW, I never hit a full 60 degree wedge shot. 60 is strictly for pitching and flopping shots around the green.

I'm nowhere close to 90 yds with my 58, about half that.

My game is really high, I struggle getting distance with my wedges.

My SW is 70, gap is 100-110, pitching about 120 and then my nine is 140-150..

As long as you know you yardages with those wedges and have those shots in your bag you are fine. Solid wedge play comes from consistency. Consistency comes from 3/4 swing wedges (not over swinging)

Watch the guys on tv with their wedges. Most of them don’t even take a full swing

I carry 4 wedges...60, 56, 52, 48.

My 56 goes nowhere.

60-70, 80, 100-105, 110-120

I just had a clean lie in the fairway last week...90 yds to a front pin, no real wind to speak of. Pulled my 56, hit it pure...landed on the fringe short of the green and spun back...shot only traveled about 82 yds in the air based on the pitch mark.

Considering bending my 56 to 54 to see if I can get it back to a 90-95 yd club.

How far your 52 go? Just take a little off of it — shorten up the backswing. Same tempo. Should only take 5-10 practice swings to get the feel.

Not sure if I would bend a club more than 1 degree but you can try and see how it feels. Might be really flat on the lie angle

4 wedges just seems like a lot to me. Many people do carry 4 tho

Over swinging wedges will usually mess up accuracy quite a bit

100-105 for the 52...that was the club to hit last week, but I tried to push the 56...it did go higher, just not the extra 5 yds I was hoping for.

I started with the Dave Pelz line of thinking...more scoring clubs to cover the shorter gaps. The LW I use quite a bit around the greens, but rarely over 50 yds, mostly 30 ys and in.

The 56 is new or relatively new so I'm probably not going to bend it, but I've thought about it.

If it’s new just keep working on it.

Or get rid of the 56 and 60. Get a 58, bend the 52 to a 53 if you have to and then your 48. ;)

That’s me tho. I would just rather have 1 “lofted” wedge vs 2. Make the decision easy

Another thought on the 58 and 52/53

I get really good with those 2 clubs. Being in between clubs makes it obvious which club I have to hit. If I’m 90 yards down wind with a good lie it’s the 58. If I’m 90 into the wind it’s the 53.

If it’s 90 to the pin in the back of the green and I can’t go over it’s the 58.

Too many choices isn’t always good. At least for me

My .02

Thanks.

Right now my gap is 90-95 yds (which I use to cover with my 56). My other club distances are mostly the same as they have been. So, until I can figure out why I've lost distance with the 56, I just need to be smarter and move to the 52 and maybe choke down a tad.

Choke down on the 52, shortet backswing, trust what your doing.

Those under 100 yard shots take practice. It’s a feel shot much like chipping and putting
