Spain 2-0. Italy isn't that good right now and Spain is still the team to beat IMO.

Euro 2012 Chart match up

I guess you are right sir... after all I think Spain will have a 50% or more ball possession through out the match and I think that is the key for them in winning this match up ....

Being a Spanish and Barca fan myself, the one thing I wonder about Spain is their forward situation with Torres having been plagued by injuries as of late and David Villa being currently injured. Although I like Pique, Ramos, and Puyol as 3 of your back 4 and Casillas anchoring the goalie spot, Spain's best bet is the possession game that is reminiscent of what Barca does in Europe. It would be great if both Villa and Torres can stay healthy.

Back to the question, I still fancy Spain's chances against Forza Italia but going the distance is going to be hard. No team has done the treble (EURO - WC - EURO) in history so Spain has their work cut out for them.

Just a feeling that Spain may have peaked and is beginning the inevitable downward slide as players get older. If that happens, I like the Netherlands to win Euro 2012.

Players getting older? If you compare Spain's starting squad to the Netherlands, the average age of both teams is roughly around the same. What hurts spain is that Villa is out with his fractured leg and Puyol is out with knee surgery looming.

That said, the team that will give Spain a ride for their money is once again Germany. Those are the top 2 teams in the tournament based on recent form and their performances in Euro 2008/WC 2010.
