Weddle's lost a BIG step in the last 2 seasons. He's definitely one of the smartest DBs in football, but he's a giant liability in coverage now.
John Johnson and Joyner played fine last year, I thought. It was the terrible LBer/CB play and lack of a major edge rush (talking the LBers Rams fans, calm down) threat is why the Rams D was mediocre. I don't get why this would be a signing... but Rams are into 'Madden recruit' mode like they were last year.. will be interesting to see what they do with a more difficult schedule and 'eyes on' officiating.
I still think that team will be horribly mediocre on D unless they can get a 3-4 OLB that can actually rush behind that ridiculous DL... although isn't Suh set to walk?
More difficult schedule? We had one of the hardest in football last year. We played half our regular season games against playoff teams, 3 division winners
Our D was pretty great in the postseason
49ers was 2 free wins because Jimmy GRAPORLOL injury (should be improved)
Arizona was 2 free wins (lol... I guess should be improved, can't get much worse)
Seattle was supposed to be 2 free wins and actually competed, they'll be better this year.
The entire NFC West will be better this year simply because Arizona/San Fran can't get any worse and Seattle has a ton of cap and all necessary pieces returning + more experience at RB/Secondary 'thanks' to Thomas' injury.
Falcons, Bears, Ravens, Steelers (still have a HOF QB, Schuster, Conner), Saints (looking for blood), Browns (vastly improved) are going to provide FAR more competition at least on paper for now (which is obviously what I'm implying) than what TURNED out to be last year.

He will be great in Wade Phillips D, nice leadership too.
