Hey everybody, looking for some advice on where to take my 21 year old son next year for a long weekend. We scored $600 worth of free flight vouchers (can book up to beginning of June ‘19) because my wife and I had totally shitty experiences on our trips to NYC and SF last year.

We are fairly new to frequent leisure travel. Just getting to a point in life financially where we can spend some money and do some things. But may be on a somewhat limited budget...

Was looking at/thinking about....

NYC (my first time last year, we really enjoyed it, he hasn’t been)

Boston (he is a Sox and Pats fan)

Atlanta

Philly

Orlando (although me the wife and the girls are going to WDW in May)

Nashville

Chicago

N’Awlins

We like sports, music, food, beer and most other stuff that men like. Would like to get out to Vegas but not sure that will be good for us on just a couple nights...and not sure that would be a good place for our first “man trip” together.

Thoughts???

I personally like Philly and Chicago. However, if he's a Pats and Sox fan, Boston seems like a pretty logical choice. There's plenty of history to see. I enjoyed my short trip there a few years ago.

I have no clue about food, but they do have some excellent breweries.

After that, I'd say Chicago. Chicago in May would be pretty fun. Great food, fairly good beer scene, great architecture.

Yeah. Beantown is at the top of the list. NFL schedule is released in April so if we could get a home Pats and Sox game on the same weekend that would be it. I would really enjoy the history, he would prolly be pretty meh.

Visit Philly in June. Check scheduled concerts. The Stones (still rocking) are to appear at Lincoln Financial Field. Also check nearby Wells Fargo Center and Kimmel Center. Across the street there's Citizens Bank Park for a Phillies game and Xfinity Live Megasports bar.

Go to SugarHouse Casino on the river to see if you can pay for your vacation with a little luck. lol. Their Sportbook just opened in December.

The new 60-floor Comcast Tower 2 downtown opens in April with a new upper floor Fours Seasons Hotel along with a classy high end restaurant. See Philly's New Skyline in Photography forum. Check out Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse also downtown with all-you-can-eat meat carved tableside plus extensive salad bar. Good Luck if you go!

My boy said he is leaning towards New Orleans. I have been wanting to go, but not sure that would be his thing. We will have to talk more. I do love me some blues and Cajun/Seafood.

In some ways NO makes sense, because of the distance. I live in SWVA so New Orleans, Chicago, and Boston are definitely a flight on a long weekend. The others we could probably drive some other time on a 3-4 day weekend (6-7 hours).

Decisions decisions.
