Gotta think the Reds will throw some money at Alex Wood.
I can't see them hanging onto Puig, but could offer Kemp a 1-year deal.
Senzel still is the 5th infielder and the 5th outfielder.
4 guys for corner OF spots seems like a trade in the works.

We all get tired of the service time game teams play with prospects, but it's not stopping anytime soon. Senzel most likely wouldn't have made the 2019 OD roster even if they hadn't traded for Puig and Kemp. Taylor Trammel will most likely fall victim to the same method come 2020 OD.

Puig and Kemp are upgrades for 2019, but I don't think the Reds plan to extend either one. They might float a one year deal if they find themselves needing a stop gap OF for 2020, but there'd have to be a cheaper option than Puig or Kemp.

If the Reds aren't dealing Senzel, Trammel, Winker, Shed Long, and Jon India, they most likely aren't extending any of the short timers.

I think Alex Wood is a descent pitcher, but he's not much of an innings eater. Regardless the problem that remains is there's not many team control pitchers to feel good about. It would seem logical they have to sign someone for more than a one year rental.

A lot of this seems like moving chess pieces. They do need a 2B-SS plan thst isn't Trahan. I gotta think they will trade Puig.

I assume Alex Blandino is the front runner for infield UT guy if the knee allows.

If Puig and Kemp are here for only one season it'd be nice to get a prospect or two for them when they depart. But regardless, having them for only 2019 is still better than having sour puss Homer on the payroll.

Blandino would be first in line, but I have not heard an update on him.

It would seem -- just me -- that the Reds and Miami would be compatible for a Puig trade. He fits the demography but that's probably stereotyping. I doubt the Marlins want to get skinned again on a deal for a pitcher.
