Round 1 Pick 31 - Connor Cook QB - Mich. St.

Round 2 Pick 63 - Derrick Henry RB - Alabama

Henry falls to 63 and Elway thinks we can't pass him up.

I would be excited about this draft. I think I have made it pretty obvious that I am probably the biggest Cook fan of anybody on this board. So getting him locked in for 5 years I think would be great for our team. Henry I am torn on. He needs about 2-3 steps to really get going. So behind a great OL he could dominate this league because he is like Juggernaut in once he actually gets going nothing can stop him. I do worry though behind our OL that is in transition whether he could get going or not. Throw in Alabama backs get used and abused in their time in Alabama and we have seen then struggle with weight and injury issues when they get to the pros.

Still if we had this be our draft I would be excited to see what they could do for the next few years really revamping our offense. I do doubt that Henry makes it to our 2nd round pick as most have him going early 2nd but if he is there it would be hard to pass on him.

I think Cook in the first would be a reach and I think Henry will be scooped up by the time he reaches us in the second.

I am also squeamish on 'Bama RBs.

I like Cook and I like a RB just not round 1 and 2.

I could live with Cook but I would like the Broncos to get a D-lineman in the first round and hope that Cook or Prescott is there in the 2nd.

This is the kind of draft - where I would be say - we will have to wait and see what the Broncos are trying to do - and what did they see - when I didn't.

For some reason - it has occurred to me the Broncos might draft Hackenberg as he drops in the draft and take a big value - tell Hackenburg he needs to prove a couple of things to the league -then train him up.

Denver will pick up another vet QB ( McCown ) then trade out of 1st and get an high 2nd to go along with their 63rd.
Randymon`s wish mock...
2nd ( from Dallas or SD ) = Germain Ifedi T Texas A&M
2nd pk 63 = Kenny Clark DT UCLA
3rd (1) = Killebrew S So. Utah
3rd (2) = Austin Hooper TE Stanford
4th = Josh Ferguson RB Illinois
5th = Hackenburg QB Penn ST
6-7 = BPA

I would HATE this combo
Me, too. I'm not a fan of Cook and I seriously doubt we take a RB before round 4, and that's probably a conservative guess.

I wouldn't mind this scenario. I like the idea of trading back out of the 1st. But I think we should get something for it. In this case, you don't have us getting anything back except for the 2nd.

Yeah, I know I didn`t throw in that. wasn`t sure what the extra pks would be. Prob a 2nd and 4th next yr and maybe a 3- 4th this year????

I would be happy with Cook and Henry

I'm with CD on the Cook bandwagon - I also don't think Cook makes it past the 'Boys in rd 2, or at least the Jets

Aside from Elliot, I think Alex Collins is going to be the best RB in the draft - but I'd good with Henry

I'm not a Cook fan. I'm pretty big into leadership at the QB position. Plus there are rumblings there were other off field issues that are concerning to teams.

I'm ok with Henry at 63 - but since we re-signed CJ to the big contract, I'm thinking more third or fourth round value for a complimentary RB.

So no, this wouldn't thrill me.

SS, leadership and personality red flags aside, what do you think of Cook's QB skills ?? ( I know leadership and commanding respect in the huddle are all part of the equation, but for the sake of discussion )

He certainly is more pro ready than almost all other QBs. I describe him as having a high floor, but not the ceiling of the other prospects in front of him. But segregating the "issues" isn't possible for me. ;)

If we draft him I'll hope for the best, but not be surprised if he is below average long term.

But I've been wrong so many times that I don't take adamant stands like I once did. I know, I know. That ruins all the fun!

I completely agree with you on the character and leadership qualities

I'm just hoping - if we end up drafting Cook - that the red flags have been distorted or manufactured

Unfortunately, where there is smoke, there can be fire

Yeah Spirit I`ve seen a couple interviews with Cook now and I think there is more smoke than fire. Since his interviews and he called those comments untrue, haven`t seen any of his former teammates come out and dispute what he said about all those leadership, etc comments. Social media is getting so out of control these days and it seems like anything negative thrown out there whether here`s any substance to it or proof, seems to garnish more attention/craving than whether a guy can play football or not. I think the guy has potential as much as any of the qbs in this draft because I don`t think any of these guys have "legitimate" NFL success written on their backs in this class anyway. I would not be surprised if a couple yrs down the road, the 7th QB taken or an undrafted Qb could end up being the best of the bunch. Cook could very well end up being a good starting QB in this league in a few years and Wentz and Goff could being riding the bench or playing lots of golf too. :)

So, he was a captain at MSU?

I hear ya Randy ... I don't see a whole lot in a guy like Goff .. If this draft were to go best player available, there is no way some of these QBs would go in the first round

The Browns are probably going to get stuck with another dud
