In my opinion, of course.

Rankings will follow.

1. Cleveland (W3) - 29 Points, 6 Assists, 3 Steals, 4 Rebounds, 10-17 Shooting, 4 TOs - Played clutch at the end of the game and delivered a win against LeBron James on his birthday (ok, that's irrelevant). 7th straight loss for James in Utah.

2. New Orleans (W6) - 41 Points. 4 Assists, 4 Rebounds, 13-25 Shooting, 6-12 from Downtown, 3 TOs - Highest scoring game to date, but still getting four assists is big for me. Had the ball in his hands a lot, so assists can come, but I've been so used to one-dimensional performances by Hood and Burks.

3. Portland (W9) - 28 Points, 3 Assists, 6 Rebounds, 9-21 Shooting, 4-10 from Downtown, 2 TOs - First big game production in a win. 8th game of his career. Did not shoot as well, but still deserves mention.

4. Milwaukee (W13)- 24 Points, 4 Assists, 4 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 9-16 Shooting, 6-10 from Downtown, 1 TO - Didn't see the game, but saw national headlines with a quote from someone significant after this game about Mitchell being impressive in the 13 Point win. Hot shooting stretch from a few games prior.

5. @ OKC (L6) - 31 Points, 5 Steals, 4 Assists, 1 Rebound, 11-22 Shooting, 5-12 from Downtown, 5 TOs - Don't like the loss, nor the turnovers, but shot well on the road, defended well, and spread the floor with his 3PT shooting.

6. @ Chicago (L3) - 32 Points, 6 Assists, 2 Steals, 3 Rebounds, 1 Block, 15-26 Shooting, 3 TOs - Drove to the lane well, shooting 14-19 on 2PT shots, but only 1-7 from downtown. Not going to put the whole game on him despite Chicago's poor play this year. Rookie mistakes at the end cost us the game, but good effort on the road. A game like this next season won't get as high of remarks, but for his first half of the season, good stepping up... or err, being the only one to show up.

7. @ Boston (W12) - 17 Points, 9 Assists, 5 Rebounds, 6-18 Shooting, 3 TOs - The win counts for something and I love the 9 Assists. Don't like the shooting so this isn't a Cleveland-like win for him.

8. @ Los Angeles Clippers (W19) - 24 Points, 6 Assists, 1 Steal, 9-16 Shooting, 5-10 from Downtown, 2 TOs - Teams are comparable this year and Mitchell helped head to head with his efficient shooting and assists. I expect this to fall out of the Top Ten soon.

9. Brooklyn (W8)- 26 Points, 3 Assists, 3 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 10-18 Shooting, 1-5 from Downtown, 3 TOs - This game should easily drop out of the top fifth (16) of a season if Mitchell stays healthy - but wow, that's crazy that I believe it. That shows the expectations going forward. Good shooting, capped the number of three's attempted, drove the ball aggressively.

10. Toronto (L9) - 25 Points, 2 Steals, 2 Blocks, 3 Rebounds, 9-20 Shooting, 3-7 from Downtown, 0 TOs - 9th game of career, against 2nd best Eastern Conference team record-wise. Don't like the zero assists, but the 0 TOs suggests he was not running the game. Passive, possibly, due to shooting percentage. May be an experience or usage issue but not well-rounded.

11. OKC (L14) - 29 Points, 5 Rebounds, 1 Assist, 1 Steal, 1 Block, 12-16 Shooting, 1-3 from Downtown, 3 TOs - Don't like the loss or the turnovers, but the shooting was great and aggressive. Would have liked the assists to be higher, but that's likely a reflection of the rest of the team. Driving often and having 3-6 assists consistently suggests a 1 assist outing to be team oriented.

12. Washington (W47) - 21 Points,2 Assists, 3 Rebounds, 8-13 Shooting, 3-6 from Downtown, 3 TOs - Blowout limited minutes, but shot well from both inside and outside.

13. @ Cleveland (L9) - 26 Points, 2 Rebounds, 1 Assist, 1 Steal, 11-16 Shooting, 3-6 from Downtown, 4 TOs - Have to admit, quality of opponent on the road is the biggest factor, as I do not like how little production came in assists or steals, TOs are bad, and of course, a loss is no good.

14. Minnesota (L11) - 24 Points, 4 Assists, 4 Steals, 4 Rebounds, 1 Block, 10-19 Shooting, 3-9 from Downtown, 2 TOs - Well rounded, good shooting night. Timberwolves are a .600+ team this year.

15. LA Lakers (W15) - 22 Points, 3 Steals, 2 Assists, 3 Rebounds, 9 for 16 Shooting, 3-6 from Downtown, 5 TOs - Lakers aren't the highest of competition, but this was his 6th professional game. Shot well within the offense. Too many turnovers, but that should be expected this early. In a win, by a rookie, that's forgivable when they learn from it (has been better since the first 6 games).

16. Houston (L11) - 26 Points, 4 Assists, 4 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 9-19 Shooting, 2-6 from Downtown, 2 TOs - Houston was a hot team at the time we faced them. Good free-throw shooting. OK field goal shooting.

17. @ Brooklyn (L11) - 15 Points, 8 Assists, 7 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 1 Block, 5-15 Shooting, 1-4 from Downtown, 3 TOs. Like the assists, disappointed in the loss, rebounding was good, but shooting was bad. TOs high.

18. Denver (W29) - 16 Points, 2 Assists, 2 Steals, 3 Rebounds, 5-12 Shooting, 2-5 from Downtown, 2 TOs - Blowout win lowered the production, but the efficiency of shooting was not his best game. Only 3-7 on 2-PT shots.

Stopping here for now, because 18 games is a bit over half of the 35 games he's played. His record in these 18 games is 10-8. I expect 12-6 or so next year.

I thought of doing a Top 20 now, but 20/35 games being mentionable is a bit ridiculous. 20/40+ is better.

It's not irrelevant!

The underlined is also good. I might put that in the Magic Words thread sometime.

I don't care what anyone says Donovan Mitchell is better than Ben Simmons the amount of space teams give Simmons to shoot 3s is embarrassing. I believe if Mitchell was on the sixers right now playing with Joel Imbiid they would be the top 2 teams in the East.

I guess when you date a Kardashian and get drafted #1 overall people think you are better than what you really are as opposed to be a lottery pick and playing on a small market

Well, Markelle Fultz proves that the #1 pick thing doesn't automatically elevate what people think of him.

Mitchell has a lot of good qualities about him (humble, a good teammate, wants to get better and is not satisfied, can both shoot and get to the foul line).

He needs to recognize shot selection better, and I'd also want him to become a more regular active defender.

I have not updated this post in a while, but I wanted to show you the results of the season for the best 82 games.

44 of Mitchell’s best (GameScore) 82 games are from this season. He only played 79 games last year and so he replaced 42 of those 79 games.

Eight of the games 83 through 100 are from this year so 52 of the top 100 are from this season. He only played 77 games this year so 52 of the 77 games he played was in the top 100 of his career. He has only played 156 games so it’s a small sample size.
