"It was very important for me to get back out there," he said. "It's my team and no one else's team. For me, it's about establishing a rhythm for when we play Texas A&M and Colorado."
Does the rest of the team know this?

LOL.......I like his way of thinking there, but I don't know if I would have said that in front of the media.

No I don't think it's an issue, it just sounds funny hearing him say that..........there are guys on the defensive side of the ball (Gomes for instance) who take pride in being leaders as well.

Also, Martinez wasn't the reason we won the game last night.........the defense was.

You are correct the defense won the game........ every ball player knows- the qb is the first leader- and if he is not- you generally have issues........

I love a redshirt freshman saying something like that.........

Bingo JJM! This is what stood out in that article. It's okay for him to think that, but keeping it to himself would've been the best idea, I mean what's Zac Lee going to think?

LOL......Zac Lee is like the robot that we throw out there when we just need a guy to snap the ball and hand it off. I really wasn't thinking about him so much........I love the guy for his character and for being a great team guy.......but I was referring more to guys that lead the defense, which ultimately in my opinion is the heart of any real championship team.

Now I will say, Taylor keeping that mindset moving forward is a very good thing for this team......it's great to know that he has that mindset, I just don't want any of his teammates to think "alright, well then I guess we're just the piss-ons beneath this star QB"

Without a doubt that was the best defensive effort of the year. Of course Kansas had something to do with that!

On the other hand, if our defense can carry that kind of effort over through next week, and our defense can get some help from our offense, maybe our players can get the team effort thing through their heads and really end the season on the right note.

I know I know, did you notice that I didn't mention Cody Green also when referring to QBs? I truly believe Zac Lee is our second best QB by a long shot, that's why.

I do agree with you about defense being the catalyst for a championship team, but they also need some points to be scored.

About the only college team I can remember that won a NC with about 90% defense was the 1986 Penn State team. They had a very average offense, but a great defense and they beat Miami of Florida 14-10 for the title that year.

I always think about Ohio State in 2002 when the majority of their games were nail biters and they always seemed to pull it out in the end by a few points because their defense was stout.

But yea the offense has got to put up points........absolutely. I am a firm believer though in if your offense can put up anywhere from 17-21 points.......you should be able to win the game. Of course against a team like Oklahoma State that is not going to work, but on average the defense needs to be good enough to hold opponents to under 3 scores
