Even more surprising than the Ty France move. Paxton is 8-2 and his ERA is 4.43. Not great, but not awful either. Clayton Kershaw is back on the 26-man roster but assuming he won't get ILed the remainder of the way is a pretty big risk. Paxton will get picked up quickly, maybe even by a division rival.

I wouldn't mind having him back. That is surprising.

I could over look the 4.43 era if this team could hit and score runs but we don't so pass on Paxton.

Agreed. If he could be useful as a situational lefty out of the pen, and would agree to that role, then, yeah, but, he would be a downgrade for our rotation. At this stage in his career, we have six starting pitchers better than him.
