Novak Djokovic is almost definitely going to withdraw from the U.S. Open, according to the Tennis Federation of Serbia’s doctor.

The doctor, Zdeslav Milinkovic, told Serbian newspaper Sportski Zurnal that Djokovic has a bone bruise from “excessive play” that requires between a month-and-a-half to three months of rest.

Doctor: Novak Djokovic has bone bruise, is unlikely to play U.S. Open

No surprise. For his sake, I'm just happy he doesn't need elbow surgery

All I can say is this, "the new King is dead, Long live the old King". Lol

I wouldn't be surprised if Novak never wins another major or masters event.

In a weird way I think Nole's elevated level of play ( when he went on a year by winning 3/4 slams and owning Nadal on every surface) forced Nadal and Federer to raise their own. They had plateaued out a bit, Nad was suffering injuries, and his baseline game weakness was exploited by the attacking players and Fed had his own set of back+knee issues and also trying to settle down his game into the new frame.

Now both players are better in form than Nole or Murray. Wawrinka is not consistent enough. Which is why the two way race like old times is between Nad and Fed.

How did Nadal elevate his game back to beat Novak?

Wawrinka is so frustrating at non-majors or at the last 2 years of Wimbledon.

I still think he CAN win Wimbledon if he can get past the first week, and not have to face FED.

He probably went back to that Spanish doctor who was working with all those cyclists that got disqualified from the Tour de France. The buttpicker was known to be a "patient" of that doctor

Eufemiano Fuentes was apparently cleared of charges in 2016.

maybe he's going to take the fed approach, take some extended time off for mind and body, and then come back and wreck.

i've learned not to count out any of these amazing all time greats in this current golden era.
