A strong consideration for me is the team they play for. Since we're talking RB, unless the guy is a true workhorse and has proven it, i try to avoid players on bad offenses, regardless of how good their O-line is. (An elite RB makes yards and doesnt need a strong line.)

If its a toss-up between 2 similar players, the player on the better offense gets the nod for me.

Actually think Omarion Hampton is the perfect example for this.

Former 1st round pick on a good team, good OL, good scheme for running the ball.
He's going at RB13 (rd 2) but since RB5-RB13 are all pretty close, wouldn't be crazy to snatch in the first if that's your guy

No.

I think YOU are missing the point.

There is no way to have a research and fact based opinion that Jeanty is worth a top 3 pick.

It is not there.

What you are talking about is a pure hunch and going way out on a limb with a massive round 1 reach.

There is a big difference between not straying too far from ADP at the top of the first and autodrafting.

Of course I have preferences between guys in those spots. But I am never going to draft a dime over a quarter. Just won’t happen. And doing so is a sure fire losing strategy.
We're dealing with a hypothetical, of course, and I picked Jeanty as a random late-first/early-second pick. But any such pick would mean that there is a research and fact-based position that the player has a better chance than anyone to be the top RB.

Maybe (and I'm making up that these would be true of some player) that's from a deep dive showing how new offensive coaching and schemes will favor the player, how an improved defense will keep the run game relevant, close analysis showing the player's reaction times are milliseconds faster and cuts sharper this pre-season versus last season, etc.

(And doing similar work on other starting RBs, and comparing their outlooks.)

For the record, I'm high on Jeanty, but for now that just means I have him penciled in as the #6 RB this year.

Jeanty stock freefalling after the news Mike Washington might be a more significant split of touches.

The hype was always too much.

Best case the Raider offense is average and it might be really bad.

Great fantasy RBs almost always come from great offenses.

There's always a couple RB1s from trash teams too tho cause they're force fed all the touches - still not top 5 pick worthy

Drafting players from the teams that score a lot of TDs usually is a better strategy in fantasy than banking on a good player to ball out on a bad team

Sure.

End of first early second is where he should have been drafted pre-injury.

That way you get some payoff if he hits.

Just too many ways this goes bad.

Does this apply to Jeremian Love as well?

Brissett will most likely be throwing the ball a million times a game.

Yes of course.

But Jeremiah Love is priced accordingly. He is a 3rd round pick.

That allows room for upside to compensate for the risk.
