Do you collect? If so, what is your area of focus?

I have rifles and and a shotgun and will collect more in the future but my area of focus is early automatic pistols. I especially focus on WWI and WWII military sidearms. The period from about 1895 until 1955 saw tremendous advances here. The really cool thing is that unlike today, there was a ton of variation in design as they gradually figured out what works best.

Some of the ones on my wish list are:

a Roth Sauer
K94eormiP-K9TJusk9yhvUtuLY7SQC02SW2IbQd_UsNtg2SxDPe4BiCN4y65bdw6-8u6pj4ZZPLUaYf4wF1AVkFJnXsBMHktxtMXhqrJV4lNDZakwnwg1u0if4mVuVC0QXfhMMc2

A Bergmann model 1896

A Frommer model 1910
frommer1910.jpg

A Mauser C96 Broomhandle (I have a bolo but want to upgrade to a WWI broomhandle with all the imperial acceptance stamps)
IMG_9496_zpsilnvz1p2.jpg

An Artillery Luger

A Nazi contract Browning Hi Power with tangent sights
img_8625_6.jpg

Of course that's conservatively $20,000 worth of guns for examples in good condition and I have others I want to buy too so it will be a while as in a few years before I can get to my hands on all of these.

Show us what's on your list.

Not sure if I'd be considered a "collector" or not but I guess I have 15-20 firearms, none of which are safe queens, and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. I don't really have a specific type, brand, age or anything that I like over others. If it trips my trigger that particular day, it's coming home with me.

I have a soft spot for pre 64 winchesters. Holy grail for me is a pre 64 model 70 264 win mag. Or an 1895 in a 405.

That's quite the wish list and a damn nice one too. I know a another collector that had one of the broom handles. Actually he collected alot of the ww guns for several years but has been liquidating them over the last several years not sure what he has left.

I don't collect. I have all the guns I really need. My focus is more on being a better shooter. I view guns more as a utility item. That doesn't mean I don't appreciate a beautiful collection, but it's not my focus.

The Pre 64 Winchester's are getting cheaper. Not as many people are interested in them as there was 10 years ago and more of them are becoming available because family members are not as interested in them as they use to be.

I am a shooter first but I do collect as well, everything I own I shoot. If I can afford to own it, I can afford to shoot it. I collect many things from good old American double shotguns, American military rifles, military training rifles. I also have some modern semi custom bolt rifles, Cooper's, Fierce, and LAW rifles from bench rest calibers to magnum calibers. I also have some modern O/U shotguns Beretta's 686's and 687's and a couple of Blaser shotguns as well. I have a few 1911's Kimber's and Knight Hawk's. Life is to short to hunt or shoot with an ugly gun.

I just like firearms and buy what looks and feels good at the time. I with a couple of exceptions have modern firearms. The exceptions are 2 Russian SKs, High Standards, a K frame 38 that belonged to my Grand Dad and just recently a childhood dream come true. A model 17K22 Combat Masterpiece.

I did not mean to dislike your post. I apologize. I meant to like it. I must have hit the wrong button. Yes I think the price has moderated some from what it was a few years ago. Seemed for awhile there it was crazy what they wanted for some of them. On my paycheck they still aren't cheap though.

Don't worry about it I am fine. I actually like the old pre 64 Winchesters 70's. In the early 2000's I bought a small group of Model 70's from a collector in my hometown. I was able to get .220 Swift sporter and Varmint, .243 Win Sporter, Varmint, and Featherweight,.257 Roberts, .270 Win, .30-06 Springfield, .300 H&H. A few years later from him I was able to pick up his .30-06 supergrade which I still have and a 42 skeet grade .410 that a gave to my dad. I don't have the 70's anymore I sold the lot of them during the Winchester madness. They turned into my Coopers.

You had a nice collection. I have a couple of them the best one I have is a 243 that was a custom order from Winchester. I bought it from the original owner. And it shoots marvelously.

I like guns that fall along those lines, collectible, but kind of ones you could take out and hunt with in bad weather. I recently picked up a Remington Model 11 Humpback that was made in 1915 that looks like it has never been shot or out of a gun cabinet for well less than half the price that a new Remington 11-87 would cost.

Yup I hunt a lot with my AHFox shotguns but I don't hunt them in the rain. That's what my Beretta 686's are for the fowl weather hunts. About a week ago one of my FFL buddies bought a small collection of firearms and he bought a M1 garand with a rotten bore and called me right away I picked it up for a few hundred bucks. I have a couple of brand new barrels for M1 Garands I've got the gun stripped down to just the action and barrel. I'll take it to my gunsmith and replace the barrel. I believe this one will be modernized just to have a accurized M1 Garand. It will be interesting gun once I'm done with it.

Have two pre 64s. A model 70 and a 94 that has never been shot talk about a safe queen.

I have managed, though I really didn't "try" to pick up WW2 pistols. Have both the luger and p38 along with the obligatory 1940's Colt 45 as well as a Japanese Nambu.

I've never own or even shot a real gun but I was into Airsoft for a couple years. I got an AK-47 airsoft rifle and a Sniper rifle. That's about as close to any guns I have?
