In case anyone missed it, Dejan has a nice column on Marte in today's Trib. From my perspective, the most important point in the column is the indication that Marte's plate discipline is improving. I'm hoping that he's deemed ready sooner rather than later. Any offensive help would be welcome.

I gotta feeling we're going to see some surprising roster changes between now and the deadline.

Hard for a prospect to get a better article than that. If he has a good June, I think he has to come up.

We are getting mighty right handed in a left handed hitters ball park... We need Pedro to turn it around so badly. It wouldnt surprise me to see the Pirates move Tabata soon.

I'm excited for Marte to make the jump, just hoping that he really does live up to the 5-tool hype. Another singles hitting outfielder really isn't going to enhance the lineup any more than what is already here.

what are your predictions??

At this point, my crystal ball is too murky to make any specific predictions. It's just that the pitching has been so good and the hitting so bad..... that I wouldn't be surprised to see drastic (or at least significant) change(s).

It seems that the team has a better chance of sustaining its good pitching than it did last season. Yet, with the Pirates' season just one game short of being one-third over, our run differential remains at minus 26. It would be a shame to waste such good pitching with an offense which is struggling enough to suggest that .500 is unsustainable.

I have often questioned the talent evaluation skills of Huntington and company..... but I don't question that NH is a smart guy. He knows that the team needs more offense and I gotta believe that he doesn't want to stand pat. I'm just hoping that whatever he does works out.

trade for a stud C or 1B

trade correia, grilli, and locke and another whoever the position they trade for.
so if they trade for 1B, send them jones. if they trade for a C, send them barajas. through in another AAA pitcher like reyes if you have to.
that would be 3 pretty decent players that can play at the MLB level this year and one on the cusp.

Been watching some MLB station today trying to get draft info. According to the talking heads, we are going to end up with Youkilis.

They need to move him so it wont cost alot if we pick up all the $$$ imo.

Of all the players that play the game of baseball, Kevin Youkilis is one that I never care to see in a Pirates uniform, well, unless he is replacing Pedro Alvarez, then maybe.

If Youkilis costs as much as Burnett, I'd do it.

What's wrong with Youkilis, crow?

He is a fan favorite in Boston, and Boston is like the armpit of America.

Actually nothing is wrong with him, by all accounts he is a decent person and a pretty good ballplayer. If we can get him for 2 nothings and Boston picks up 1/2 the money, then why not. But for all that is good and holy, please make him shave his goatee.

I like Marte's confidence. My opinion of him is a little bit higher than it was.

Marte left tonights game early, not sure why.

On a different note, I think it is almost time to give Jeff Clement one more shot, he is tearing the cover off the ball, Hague can move to third or OF to give him the opportunity.
