like to sneak in this 'off topic' now............was surprised to see Reggie Smith fielding punts? but now that we've seen him field it, good game. he didn't make bad decisions, caught the ball well, and secured it.

"I think", he returned punts in college - but still that was awhile ago, so I agree he filled in nicely

Lechler held the record at 43.85, so if the posted stats on Lee are correct, then Lee's net average of 44.56 should get him in the books...

He use to catch for us a couple seasons ago too...

but i dont feel comfortable with anyone fielding punts outside Ginn on this roster....

It appears the posted stats I checked yesterday were correct and thus Andy Lee now owns the NFL Record for Punting Average @ 44.56 (44.6) Yards. Adding .71 yards to Lechler's 2009 record of 43.85 yards.

It is also noteworthy that T.Morstead (Saints) also broke Lechler's record posting an average of 44.0 yards this year. So if/when we play the Saints we will need Ginn to counter that. The Saints have Sproles of course which means our ST and their ST are just about even.
