With our up coming road trip out west where we'll be playing tough teams, how many points do you think we can muster out this given our current slump?

I think we can pull off wins against the Ducks and Vancouver, San Jose will be tough but possibly an OT loss, and losses to LA and the Blackhawks. That will give us 5 points out of a possible 10.
I'll be happy with that, but would much rather have 10.:D

Hmm i'd say 4 points of the possible 10.

Loss @SJ
Win @Ducks
Win @Kings
Loss @Van
Loss @Chi

Obviously we'd like as many as possible and anything could happen but that'd be a wild guess at the games upcoming.

It's rangers at home once they're back from this, this run of games could be vital.

I sure as hell hope they can pull out 5 or 6 points. But with the way they are playing, I wouldn't be shocked if a pair of OT losses was all they could manage.

As badly as they're playing, i would be surprised if they don't win 1 game. If they go out there and lose every game then it really is rock bottom.

You said it... :D

I'm still waiting to see how long it takes for you guys to come out of this funk... Obviously I hope you dont, but I just cant imagine you guys staying down much longer. Guess time will tell. Gonna be a hard hole to dig yourselves out of if you dont make a turnaround soon though.

I had the same thought as you that it can't be much longer but we keep telling ourselves the turning point is the next game and your Rangers show up aha. Doubt the West road trip is gonna be pretty.

Anyway, you worry about those Thrashers ;)

This road trip has to be a turnaround point or at least not to get deep down to the bottom, otherwise it will be fatal. Should get minimum 5 point. If they get more - I would call it turnaround.

I think they will win every game but Chicago. San Jose is slumping a bit out of the gate. I think Quick's an awful goalie. Ducks are just as bad as we are. Vancouver, Marty will be pissed and make Bobby Lou pay. Chicago is a death trap though.

Furthermore, they could really use a long road trip right now.

We will win the San Jose, Anaheim and Chicago games. We stink vs LA. Vancouver usually gives us fits too. At least one of these games will go to OT.

You sure do have faith. ;)

I wouldn't say awful, but he always has that one point in a game where he is just off in la-la land it seems, if you can capitalize on that (minny in the 1st last night), and also show good defense (not minny last night), then beating Quick is easy.

There have been entire periods where we decimated teams this season. It's all about consistency, and I believe that road trips help teams focus, and bring them together. I'm also hoping that Langenbrunner doesn't return..

I honestly don't understand why they're all so high on Langenbrunner, i mean he is just an average player. I'd have Parise, Elias, Arnott, White even Clarkson or Pelley over him as captain. Maybe it's just me.

There is no captaincy in this team right now as well as there is no coach who'd inspire or fire-up players. JMac is not ready to coach this or any NHL team and Lang should be demoted as captain. It is time to do something before it is too late.

Being a good player and being a good captain are two different things. You can be a great player like Kovy and not be a good captain. Likewise, you can be an average to slightly above average player and be a great leader. Obviously you can't be a bad player and be captain, but even Langs isn't a bad player.

Exactly right Chief! I mean Langenbrunner is an average player and a bad leader though haha. I'll stop hating on him now i just think if you have a great player, even if they aren't the best leader or motivator they can lead by example with good play on ice. For me, Langerbrunner doesn't show the rest of the ream how it's done. and i'm not sure he motivates them.

I mean why would you listen to a guy that isn't putting as much effort in as others and such. I dunno the players obviously rave about him but after his episode last season and general lack of anything for me i can't see how they can really respect him as a captain and look up to him.

I've also said it's hard for him though because i mean, niedermayer and stevens were captain before him(excluding Elias' short stint). Pretty tough to shadows to be honest.

I watched quick play when he was in college at UMASS and I was at BU. He was awful then. Honestly, I don't watch him play often at all now, but back then he dropped so quickly it was ridiculous. We sit right behind the goalies in the BU fan section and I remember one powerplay where before doing anything with the puck, every player would fake a shot, and Quick dropped every time.

I would not be shocked if they put together some wins on this trip. I think an extended road trip is exactly the type of change of pace this team needs to regain focus and get on track.
