NJ Devils: Sweden West
Andrei Loktionov
Age: 22
POSITION: C
SHOOTS: LEFT
DRAFTED: 2008 (5th Round)
H/W: 5-10, 180 LBS
Acquisition Fee: Devils traded a 5th round pick in the 2013 draft.
My Take: Loktionov split time with LA and Manchester last year putting up a few points along the way.
It's hard to argue with acquiring a player that young, who has shown some ability to play in the NHL. King even trusted him enough to let him play in the playoffs last season.
Trading a 5th almost seems like underpayment on our part. Sure Loktionov may not pan out, but the odds of a 5th Rd pick making it to the show are so low that I don't mind at all. The 5th almost seems totally expendable. Of course if you've been following my other posts you'll note that Reid Boucher was selected with a 4th.
