Those are his cap hits with Houston not with a new team. The signing bonus cap hit stays with Houston if traded. New team cap hits:Yikes... That's a scary price to pay for someone that might not even see the field in 2022 pending his 23+ active legal cases.
Cap Hits:
2021: $15.9m
2022: $40.4m
2023: $42.4m
POTENTIAL OUT: 2024 (dead cap of $5.4m)
2024: $37.4m
2025: $32m
Granted if he gets himself clear of the legal stuff, you're trading for a potential top 3 QB with 5 years remaining under contract at an average of $39m per season. High price to pay but he could easily turn around a franchise that needs a QB.
Good to know... Still $35m is a black hole next year if his sexual assault cases causes him to get suspended. Those are his cap hits with Houston not with a new team. The signing bonus cap hit stays with Houston if traded. New team cap hits:
2021 $10.5M
2022 $35M
After this they can cut him with no dead money. His 2023 salary and bonus will become guaranteed in 3/22. If they keep him it's $$37M for 2023. Then they go year to year with no more guaranteed money: 2024 $32M, 2025 $32M
All very reasonable ignoring the fact that he is going to be suspended and basically a pariah...
It's a nice idea but it would be too complicated to implement. It would require Mr. Goodell to evaluate each claim on a case-by-case basis and award percentages of cap relief. He's already accused of being biased. Besides, Player X with a $20M cap breaks a leg in July and misses the season, Player Y with a $20M cap is arrested in July and misses the season. What's the difference from a cap perspective? In situations like this teams should be given cap relief. Teams can't watch playersc24/7. If players are suspended for off field legal issues (assult, murder), their salary while sitting shouldn't count against the cap. If players are suspended in cases the courts aren't looking into by all means then yes their salary will effect the cap.
IMO player X has a physical issue, cap hit count, player has a felony issue hanging over his head cap excused. It's a nice idea but it would be too complicated to implement. I suppose teams could write clauses into contracts to void salary where players are unavailable because of legal issues. It would be messy if some teams did whilst others didn't.

It was stupid as stupid can be. If a player dies. His cap hit should be void.
Sean Taylor was murdered and his numbers didn’t come off the books. How fuckin stupid is that
Don't give Eagles fans any crazy ideas...It was stupid as stupid can be. If a player dies. His cap hit should be void.
That was truly Phenomenal.Don't give Eagles fans any crazy ideas...
Are you suggesting that teams be able to disassociate themselves from player conduct? In situations like this teams should be given cap relief. Teams can't watch playersc24/7. I'm saying that when players are removed for crimes that they might face jail or prison time, they arevgiven cap relief. Are you suggesting that teams be able to disassociate themselves from player conduct?
Try that in your field!
