An infection in Derrius Guice's torn ACL required three additional knee surgeries and brings his 2019 availability into question.
Guice tore his ACL last preseason and should've made a smooth recovery, but the infection severely complicated his rehab. The infection lasted two months after Guice's ACL tear, "prompting seven weeks of heavy rounds of antibiotics through a catheter in his arm." Guice admitted there is "no specific timeline" for his return. This is especially unfortunate news after Alex Smith's complicated broken-leg surgery put Smith's NFL future into doubt.

I'm very superstitious when it comes to sports, but that's about it. However, I'd be lying if I said that I hadn't wondered if some tribe but a jinx on us because of the name. This is crazy.

Heard this on the Junkies this morning. I believe they said Guice is fine now. James Andrews once the finest orthopedic surgeon may have slid past his better days.

you believe everything that is reported?

he should bounce back because of his age.... far from a guarantee

Well I tell you what the fact that it was reported that he had any complications WAS reported so maybe I shouldn’t believe that ?

Now if you wish to believe that he season next year is in jeopardy. Then so be it .

DR Andrews said he would be ready according to reports so that’s all anyone has at this point

I see no reason. Why an ACL won’t heel by TC at the latest . He us walking around doing stuff now . By OTAS he should be ready . Now they might hold him out for precaution

HAving dealt with someone taking Antibiotics in this manor, depending on what drug they have him on... this also usually leads to weight loss, lack of appetite, and muscle loss. Just from that, even if the knee heals, I would expect him to start 2019 on the PUP list
