Dennard out indefinitely with pulled leg muscle
Nebraska senior cornerback Alfonzo Dennard will be sidelined indefinitely after he pulled a muscle in his leg, coach Bo Pelini said after Wednesday's practice.
The severity of Dennard's injury is unclear, but Pelini did say that the talented cornerback is doing better than originally thought.
“I don't know when he's going to be back,” Pelini said. “It's just how quickly his leg responds.”
Sophomore Andrew Green, redshirt freshman Josh Mitchell and sophomore Dijon Washington were all mentioned by Pelini as potential candidates to temporarily replace Dennard at the cornerback spot opposite sophomore Ciante Evans. Junior Antonio Bell is presumably in the mix, too.
Dennard started 13 of Nebraska's 14 games last season, sitting out the Huskers' game against Kansas with a concussion. Evans played in place of Dennard, a 5-foot-10, 205-pound cornerback from Rochelle, Ga.
