The Flames so far have been perplexing to me. How do you make such a good signing as Hiller, then turn around and hand out that absurdity to Engelland? :noidea:

These guys should be on league minimum contracts if not out of the NHL entirely. How on earth did their agents manage to get 8x their value from these GMs.

Seeing what price Stralman went for I wish the Caps would have signed him instead of Orpik - Niskanen, Stralman, Alzner, and Carlson would have been a GREAT young D-core.

You forgot Frederic St Denis :suds:

A little disappointed that the Jackets didn't land Moulson, Cammaleri or Michalek. But the biggest victory of the day is what didn't happen. No offer sheet for Man Child. And the teams that would have likely done it spent a boatload yesterday. I am easing up on fears of a messy situation. Still not out of the woods yet, but I feel better about the situation.

Will miss Skille and Mac. Meh on Comeau, and Frattin barely played here. I was convinced that they were going to pick up another top six guy, but maybe they see a lot of potential for some youngins to make the team out of camp and are standing pat.

Either that or since they have the most cap space left (pending Johansen's deal) maybe they are vulture circling teams that spent too much yesterday. *cough*Chicago*cough*.

Mike McKenna (AHL starter and decent NHL backup) went to Arizona. Guess that means Dansk will get the reigns in Springfield.

I think the Sabres took themselves out of the McDavid sweepstakes with their signings yesterday. As for the Isles, they currently have the clubhouse lead in my opinion.

The answer on Calgary's signing is " What is the Burke factor for 300 Alex"

I still think the Sabres are going to be bad, as for the Isles I think they'll be out of the running though - they have two good goalies now, best tandem they've had in at least 4-5 years(probably more than that)

I think a team that might be in that running is Phoenix, they made some questionable moves and in a conference that's getting even stronger, they might be the bug in the windshield

The Sabres own the Isles' first round pick, so Buffalo still comes out on top lol.

Obviously you need the players to want to play for your team, but if I'm Edmonton there are 2 former Devils I'd be all about, Volchenkov and Ryan Carter. Volchenkov obviously would upgrade the D, add a physical presence and help out the goaltending immensely. Ryan Carter on the 4th line does everything you'd want. Hustles on every play, has enough skill that he's not dead weight in the offensive zone, would be a great influence on the younger guys.
