We have to hold on to hope that one day Martha will give us a winner.

The Chiefs equipment manager thinks Princeton is in New England...

that was one strange mix-up with the equipment going to Newark.

Hoodie must've paid the tarmac crew on the side knowing that was the only way he could get a "W"

Rookie CB Amani Oruwariye earns praise for his quick development

Amani Oruwariye has taken over as one of the starting cornerbacks in Detroit’s defense. In the last three weeks, the rookie from Penn State has been on the field for over 80 percent of the defensive snaps.

Per Pro Football Focus, Oruwariye allowed just one catch in the Week 14 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. He did miss a tackle and graded horribly in run defense as a result. His overall season grade of 78.3 is a promising development.

Frank Herron: What the Lions are getting in their new DT

Cons
  • Uncreative as a pass rusher
  • Had academic and disciplinary issues at LSU, though those have not been problems in the NFL
  • Lacks a real position, plays like an end in the body of a tackle
BB_72: superb pickup. We'll no longer need to draft an iDL nor make a futile attempt to sign one in the off-season. I've got to hand to ol' Bobby, he's outdone himself again, as this team needs more players like this to make it competitive

Lions place Da'Shawn Hand on injured reserve, call up Travis Fulgham from practice squad

Da'Shawn Hand's disappointing, injury-riddled season is over. For the second consecutive season, the Detroit Lions defensive tackle will finish the year on injured reserve.

After a promising rookie season, there was high hopes for the 2018 fourth-round draft pick, but an elbow injury suffered in the first week of training camp sidelined him for more than two months, costing him the first six games of the regular season.

Two weeks after returning, Hand sprained his ankle, shutting him down another three weeks, and a setback proved to be season-ending.

He finishes his season with six tackles in three games. He played just 110 snaps.

To fill the roster spot, the team promoted wide receiver Travis Fulgham off the practice squad. A sixth-round pick out of Old Dominion this year, he caught seven passes for 147 yards during the preseason, but a late-game fumble likely contributed to him being cut prior to the start of the regular season.

@Old Lion is pretty much correct in his statement that BQ/MO are kind of in the mode of tanking.

This topic was discussed in that mailbag article also

Lions mailbag, Part 1: Patricia moves team backward; 2020 defensive outlook

► Q: Would we even know what tanking looked like, should the Lions decide to do so? — @CallMeDjm

► A: Tanking is a layered conversation. Obviously, no player wants to lose games. The majority of the roster is playing for their careers, both in the form of playing time and contracts. The same can be said for a coaching staff. Lose too much, without previously established guarantees you'll be back the next season, and you're job is at risk.

But when you do feel secure about your job, there are some subtle hints that wins are not the top priority. For example, you'll see a more conservative approach to injuries and younger players more willingly thrown into the fire. And from a roster construction standpoint, injured veterans are replaced by young talent, not more-accomplished veterans.

In many ways, the Lions are checking these boxes. Especially focus on who is playing when a starter goes down. It's opening the door for Bo Scarbrough over someone like Jay Ajayi or Amani Oruwariye over a veteran cornerback off the street. And no disrespect to David Blough, but was there not a better veteran option?

It does make me wonder if Quinn and Patricia have assurance, behind the scenes, that they're going to be back in 2020.

Patricia is a defensive wizard. I am sure he will be playing at a pro bowl level by week 17.
