…In righting the ship after a 2-10 start and the usual injury woes of AD. Also props to Pelinka for not waiting on the next name star to fall into their laps and going out and getting Hachimura.

Lakers sit at #13 with a record of 23-26 but are only three games back of #4. A whopping ten teams in the west are jumbled within three games of one another, yet my Nuggets are running away from the rest of the pack.

Best of luck the rest of the season. :suds:

Just know that Rui's cap hold will hinder the Lakers' cap space, which is how it should be in you want to build a team for the future and not the past.

Even if any potential trades won't elevate the Lakers to contender status this year, trades still should be made for this reason specifically. Trade guys they won't be able to retain to obtain players to build around moving forward with Bird rights. The next move should be Gary Trent Jr IMO, but his player option makes it tough to part with a 1st, would need some protections. If (hopefully WHEN) they trade Russ, they need to secure a PG as well, since their only viable PG currently is on a minimum deal himself (Schroder). Cap space for next season is fool's gold for the Lakers IMO.
