He benched 405 pounds. The video was on the pay side of Beamerball and was awesome. Everyone was gathered around cheering him on and TT jumped in on him and smacked him when he was done. Pretty damn impressive....

Oh yeah, and Nick Acree set the high for incoming freshman in the bench press....by 120 pounds......when he put up......450 fucking pounds!!!!!!....as an incoming freshman.

Arkema and Hopkins put up 330.

Gentry still on his game, and you can tell the players are excited about the coming season.

Do I remember correctly that Gentry modeled at least his initial conditioning program on Nebraska's program in the early 90's, and even got help from Nebraska's conditioning coach (which I guess isn't that uncommon in college sports).

Should we make a long erm bet on what Acree benches leaving? The scool record is 515, I believe.

Also, Kyle Fuller is fast.

I would recommend the beamerball membership. it is great during the season with locker room videos and the such.

According to the 2010 media guide, the record is 500lb. by Redding and Grove.

Unless he gets hurt, I can't help but think Acree will surpass that. For comparison, Jake Grove improved from 380 to 500lb over his career.

All the kid needs is to stay healthy and get his technique down. Then watch out...

Very impressive for both Evans and Acree.

There was a senior at my high school when I was a freshman that benched 425 and had a legit 725 squat. I think he played at a D2 school, but don't remember hearing anything from him once he graduated. There were also a couple twins that were both over 300/500 that year as well. Absolute freaks for high school students.

Technique is a big key for these lifts. There is also a big difference between bodybuilding (what I was into) and powerlifting. I started training with my uncle who competed in local strongman competitions and learned how to explode the bar off my chest. After 3 workouts, I had already increased from 325 to 360 even though I didn't feel as if I were any stronger. Band and chain work really helped.

With Gentry, Acree should be over 500 by the time he graduates.

I was talking more about getting his technique down at the DT position. He tends to play very high. The kid has the size, strength, and speed to be a force, he just needs to learn how to play the position.

Gotcha, I should have put two and two together. I haven't seen any film on Acree, but that seems to be one of the main problems with incoming players (playing too high). I'm sure he'll eventually get it down and will help fill the middle.
