Murphy said that Ryno makes up a lineup daily to give him the best chance to win. Murphy believes that they are mis-handling Ruf. He thinks that Ruf needs to get consistent playing time to see if he is the future. So instead of a regular guess who is playing today lineup give Ruf regular playing time. Whether it is left field or 1st base or a combo of both this is certainly possible. I have said this more than once. Ruf has a good on base percentage when playing regular and he is a better power threat than Brown. Ryno seems to be making lineups out that might save his job. But the future is what the Phillies need to focus on. Last but not least Ruf can hit righties just fine!

Some of his lineups don't make alot of sense and Ruf is a classic example.

I agree. Brown has had plenty of chances to turn it around. Sit him down and play Ruf. That makes sense since the Phillies need to see if Ruf can be an every day contributor.

I've criticized Ryno's lineups since early April when he sat Asche in game 2 after he had a great start with three hits. "With a lefthander pitching, I didn't want him to be pressured..." lol. Also in April, he sat Revere, who was at .290 and had obviously won the leadoff position in '13, in favor of Gwynn Jr. for four days. Later he demoted Revere to 8th or so, when in fact certain buffoons in the middle of the lineup were the real problem when runs were scarce. His experiment with Galvis was a failure.

He has consistently refused to move the poor averaged Howard down from cleanup in favor of Byrd and Ruiz and/or some kind of platoon. He tries Ruiz at no. 2 but I don't think a mid-30s catcher shouldn't be batting 2nd and getting alot of base running time. Rollins can be dead weight at no. 2 and something different should be worked out there. Brown's been around for five years and he is lousy. Ruf should have been tried in LF long before now.

You said it well! Part of our problem involves Ryno.
