Average head coach at best, great DC. Be a solid hire.
this is the guy I wanted to replace Schwartz. However, our owner has got his head so far up Howie's ass, who knows where we go?

Would have loved him on the Raiders.

why are we posting on the Boys board?
I posted this under their board because I hadn't seen a thread.

Not much of a Raiders board so I post everywhere.

Counting this year the Falcons defense was ranked:
16, 25, 9, 28, 20, 29 under Quinn

Add to this his horrendous reputation for in-game coaching and I'm not as excited about him as you guys seem to be. His Seattle defenses were great, but are we sure that was because of him

Number 9 is decent...I dont think any of nolans defenses ever did that well. a good hire if it happens. He has had great defenses in the past. I see a major improvement ,but only if we draft a starting quality CB,FS,LB and a big bodied DT to rotate in. We got higher picks and I think it is possible. Now if we draft a TE and OL in first 2 rounds there will only be minimal improvement.. scrapping Nolans adjustments wont be hard

I am looking forward to seeing who we get rounds 1-3. If they pick the right players then this defense will be better . Gregory and DLaw going to be a damn good combo

Seems like the Falcons D was the only one worse when the Cowboys this season while he was still coaching them.

After this season, I’m not getting excited about any coaching hires nor player signings lmao I’m in wait & see mode all offseason.
I laugh every year the day after the draft when people start claiming how many day 1 starters we drafted. Same thing every year. Same for free agents and then at the end of the year I look back and think WTF happened? McCoy, Po, Dix. All looked like sure things to contribute at one point. Two never played and one was horrible. We need to clear cap space and sign some good players from other teams or we won’t get any better. This sign our own and bargain shop has killed us for over a decade it seems

Anybody is better than Nolan. Someone who understands his personnel will help. He won a super bowl as a DC and took his team to the Super Bowl as a HC.

So just sitting on the back porch thinking about this hire. I got a totally different feeling about this than the feeling I got when they hired Nolan.. the opposite . Nolans defenses in SF were not good. At all. His Baltimore defenses not good..

Quinn has a much better track record when all he coached was defense. I think if they add some pieces to defense the results will be much better in 2021

Tend to agree with the folks who say anything is better than Nolan. This guy was in demand and I'm glad Jerry didn't wait. WE have 4-3 personnel and I'm happy we hired a 4-3 guy.

Funny some will poo poo everything but never give a name with regards to who they would prefer.

And THAT is where I hang my hat. It's a better fit of coach and personnel. We can have a different discussion about the quality of the personnel... but this hire is a sensible approach.
