I kinda figured he was gonna retire again but was hoping to have him for Marty's last year.... So now we are looking once again for a coach, I'm thinking Hitchcock
I don't have a strong feeling about any one particular guy, however... based on how this season unfolded, I have a lot of anxiety over how it will work out. You basically saw night and day from the same team, same season, two different coaches. That scares me a little bit.
Ted Nolan is an interesting candidate. The guy can certainly coach, but he is also known to butt heads. Tough to tell how the players will respond to him, could be great or a complete disaster, don't feel like there would be any middle ground there.
Are there any younger coaches that can command the respect of this team? I don't want a rookie head coach but at the same time, as much as I would love a guy like Hitchcock, is he the long term solution or will he be gone in 2 years?
i can see nolan sticking around for years if it works out. enough is enough with these players though. you cant have 12 coaches in 10 years...thats just insane! a serious change in the players is needed then. i mean elias is suppose to be a "leader" and captain material same with marty how the heck can they let this happen in the locker room? i say hire nolan he is an "outcast" by the nhl and i think he will fit right in with this group.
I'm actually a big Nolan fan, just thought I'd point out that the guy carries some baggage with him. But I agree that he is arguably the best at getting everything he can out of as little as possible. And I think Lou has been around long enough and is smart enough to know exactly how to deal with him.
