Dak seems like a good, high character guy, so I was hoping they would do something dumb like letting him go. But man, Jerry cost himself a lot of money by not locking Dak up much, much sooner.

Wow, sounds risky with the injury he's coming off of. Surprised we didn't at least kick the tires on Wilson or Watson.
I think just signing Dak makes sense as if they traded for the above QBs they’d have to devastate their draft capital and still pay them, as opposed to just paying Dak

Yep.

You can’t argue against giving up the highest paid contract to a player you are not ever going to be willing to lose. Waiting and trying to negotiate that contract down will just cost you tens of millions like it did here.

2 years ago giving Dak a 5 year extension work $191 million would have been laughable. But that is exactly what they ended up doing.
