Nice offer TKO but I am going nowhere this year. At least with Brees/Bridgewater I have the chance of filling my QB slot next year for a 3rd rounder.

I was getting QBs offered who are a lot worse than Brees who don’t necessarily have firm grips on starting jobs long term for 1st and 2nd round picks.

I will not mortgage the future for 1 year. I definitely said that.

But I will trade a first of I can return a player who is worth it. Hunter Henry should be my starting TE for the next 4-5 years if he can stay healthy.

It was Alex Smith and a 3rd for a 1st.

At the time Smith was a top 10 QB. I am talking about the dregs of the position and some of the early week dialog.

And always fair to try. But I also said very clearly I wasn’t paying for a 2 week Mahomes replacement for obvious reasons.

Yeah I often times trade my first away, then I tell myself next year I am going to keep it, doesn't always work out that way. You just might trade that pick away before the draft arrives.

I don’t even think I have done that.

Just traded 2 players for @Chef99 2nd rounder and Henry has a lot of future value. I would be lucky to get a player as good as Henry with either pick. And TE has been a need for me for awhile.

Ironically, the deal I made that does violate my rule was the deal I made with Treff. Not either of the deals I made today. And that one was agonizing for me.
