A 3rd round pick being cut that quickly is complete acknowledgement of making a terrible pick.

In no way am I defending the Bengals but...

He was a compensatory pick in the 3rd round (96th overall)...basically a 4th round pick. Obviously he didn't dazzle (injured way too much) however that draft class did net:

1st round - Jermaine Gresham
2nd round - Carlos Dunlap
3rd round - Jordan Shipley
3rd round - Brandon Ghee
4th round - Geno Atkins
4th round - Roddrick Muckleroy
5th round - Otis Hudson
6th round - Dezmon Briscoe
7th round - Reggie Stephens

That would be the team's starting TE, best pass rusher, best slot receiver, starting DT, a LB that was in line to possibly start at SLB before injury (prior to Manny Lawson's arrival), backup OG (albeit an injured one), a starting WR for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the team's backup Center.

That's basically an 89% success rate for Ghee's draft class. Again, I am hardly defending the team for the way they run things but sometimes things happen. The cutting of a 3rd round (basically a 4th round pick) is not something that is mutually exclusive to this franchise.

It happens. Ghee also has practice squad eligibility so they could still get him back at the end of the day with an opportunity to prove himself next year.

Dan Lefevour cut...the day Palmer swings by...hmmm....

Now "officially" only 2 QB's on the roster.

I bet what they plan on doing is keeping Lefevour on the practice squad. it's only his 2nd yr in the leauge so he's eligible. with teams not carrying many QB on their roster there's almost no chance he's picked up imo

Solid post. At the time I was wanting Everson Griffen (who was arrested 2 times in three days in January) or Darryl Sharpton (who has had little impact so far), so understandably it is a little difficult to pick out a gem that late in the draft, unless your name is Belichick, of course.
