It's tough to compete when your starting corners and starting SS are out and you are playing a team like Atlanta. It's one thing to switch out Long for Lauvaro, another to be down to guys signed in September.

Sty is right about man up. Sadly we passed that several players ago. Blackmon (the vet) is most noted for his punt returns in his 6 team career. Everett and Dunbar (the WR) are both undrafted FAs from this year.

Next man up.......next man up!! That's the attitude that this team needs to develop! ! I've mentioned this on other threads before about the need to have guys pushing starters for playing time. Maybe it's generational, but our backups should be chomping at their collective bits at any opportunity that gets them on the field, where their play makes the decision about who to start the following week impossible for the coaches to go wrong.

It gets a bit tiresome not falling for the okeydoke...........this guy is hurt, that one is not yet 100% or my favorite he'll be a bit rusty. Guess what? They all get paid to play the game right? Then dammit, get out there and ball out....this is grown man stuff, nobody wants to nor needs to hear excuses why your ass is gettin' smoked. Did anyone see what that ancient, half dead Matt Hasselback pulled off last night? Youngsters and others should take note!!

While I can dig your sentiment. I'm still not sure the Skins are completely over the ridiculous amount of multiple picks for one player trades. And I'm not just talking about the Griffin deal. The Skins have been habitually involved in that crap going back to 2004 with Gibbs.

Its fair imo for fans to expect the next man up to be at the very least a capable player who legitimately belongs in the NFL. Unfortunately for the Skins though. Their next man up is some cases might be playing in St Louis (Griffin trade) or Philadelphia (McNabb trade).

What's truly shitty and what I believe to be indicative of how much of a joke the Skins had become in recent years. Is that from a wins/losses perspective. Joe Gibbs is the most successful HC the Skins have had in the 2000s with a 30/34 W/L reg season record and two playoff appearances. Yet he is w/o question the HC who crippled the Skins the most wih those nonsensical multiple picks/players for one player trades.

Have to question that comment about Gibbs. Let me start by saying although I was happy Gibbs came back I was never for him being the personnel guy also. Of course Vinny and Dan were the rest of that personnel crew.

Gibbs was here from 2004 to 2007 and he did trade too many draft picks away. Out of players like Taylor, Cooley, Carlos Rodgers, Jason Campbell, Doughty, Golston, McIntosh and Landry I think only Kedric Golston and Laron Landry are still playing in the NFL. Anyone he drafted in his last draft class would now be a 9 year vet. Sean Taylor if still alive and if he was still playing would be a 12 year vet. Most NFL players don't last 9 years. Giving him sole blame for the 9 years since he has been gone is just not correct. The mismanagement of this team went on beore he came back and has been going on since he came back.

I didn't say he was the sole reason. I said he was the biggest reason for this, movement, if you will, of trading away multiple picks for one player trades. And that the effects of that movement is still lingering around Redskins Park today as it relates to the Skins depth or lack thereof.

Again if you look before and after Gibbs this kind of stuff was going on. Trading picks (I think we had 3 in the 2003 draft) overpaying for free agents. I agree with you that Gibbs was not the guy you wanted to be GM but I won't lay that much blame on him.
