Heard about that today. Didn't see that coming. If he's available I think there will be considerable interest in him.

I am sure the offer would have to truly blow the Cubs away for them to trade Bryant

I don't get this unless there's some sort of injury issue preventing Bryant from seeing the field often for future full seasons.

I've seen this time and again. Teams are basically willing to trade anyone, if the price is right. Hell the Angels would trade Trout but nobody could put a package together to get him.

His #s were down last year with injury, but he still played solid D at 3rd base which is an important position and was a big part of their WS year.

I'm willing to win the lottery, and that's just as likely to happen.

ive been asking myself this same question why would we trade him...……...And for the life of me,I cant answer that.

his numbers were drastically low from the seasons before, granted he had a shoulder and wrist injury this past season, but he just didn't seem like the same ol`player he once was...……..

Maybe Epstein is throwing out the trade rumour to see what he can get for him instead of giving up a Kershaw contract...……..Which into Bryant rejected a 200 mill long term contract...….

That's my best guess...…….

They still need pitching and have infield depth to withstand the loss.

Doing a deal with sea for Paxton and colome in some form makes sense if they’re Gonna do this

Bryant is a Boras client and Theo hates dealing with him.
Theo also made the famous statement about not falling in love with particular players and has certainly not hesitated to trade very popular players who were starting to have injury and/or attitude problems before. Who would have thought the Bosox would have won a WS right after trading Nomahhh?
Probably just positioning before a major showdown with Boras, but Theo is certainly not one to get scared about big moves.

Luke Weaver, Carson Kelly, an Imo's Pizza and a Schnickelfritz.

Sounds like a fair trade

I’m not saying it’s a perfect deal. But those would be the cubs 2 biggest needs getting solved and you’d have Happ to play 3b full time. A good problem to have that you struggle to find a spot for hm, until this deal.
