On this Cabrera trade. You knew after Fonty lost the first game against the Reds that the Giants were desperate for a RH bat, but is Cabrera the answer?

This trade has meh all over it.

I guess Crawford goes back down...now we have 2 Tejadas.

Still need a freaking catcher.

No.

I HATE HATE HATE this trade.

Miggy is on the DL, so we had to trade for his clone? AND give up one of our top OF prospects at the same time (by top, I meant, next in line).

In the long run, not a Garko / Barnes type of bad trade, but bad none-the-less.

Sabes needs to lose Cleveland's phone number, and fast.

This trade is too whatevs to 'hate' it. It's like nothing just happened. Neal is filler, we have a billion OFs already.

I saw him as salary relief for next year. Playing him would have meant that we could have let Ross go (and his WAY over-paid contract). That would assist with Durty / Cain / Timmeh / Weez raises. Now we will need to find those savings elsewhere, and I fear it will likely come from the pen.

I knew you would hate this trade. I don't like it, but I haven't seen if Cabrera can cover the position. So I'm hoping for the best.

Yeah, we kind of had him penciled into the OF mix next year.

I guess this also means they think Nate is the real deal for next year.

Plenty of guys ahead of Neal organizationally. Brown, Peguero, Kieshnick, to name a few.

As far as MLB ready, I think Neal was the only one that was "there".

This may signal that they do, in fact, expect Brown or Peguero to be ready for a #4 OF job next year.

I need to see Kieschnick put 3 consecutive ABs without straining his back before I will be any shade of confident in his prospect-ability.

Veteran depth, i understand. This move means Sabes is very confident the giants will be in the playoffs and will have cabrera as a weapon off the bench...which is okay.

But to have cabrera solely as the answer at SS and to lose Neal (i am influenced by the ratings you guys post here) i was in the hate mode as well.

This is a mix n match plan at SS, not a plug n play option like Beltran.

Which leaves me lingering between meh and hate, lol. Im a fence sitter

I am ok with this trade.Neal has shown almost no power this year so cya later.OF next year will consist of Schierholtz,Rowand,Belt,Peguero and Brown.

Neal couldn't stay healthy and didn't hit for power when he could. IMO not a great loss. Don't know that both Peguero and Brown will make the club next year, but it'd be nice if they did. I do agree that Cody coming back is unlikely.

Unless he goes all MVP on us again in the playoffs.

Cabrera can move a little bit. He's got some tread left at SS. Tejada can be Panda's back-up at 3B, Although I'm not sure how he gets back to the 25.

After his comments, I would not be shocked to see him DFA'd. We don't need a pissed off prima dona sitting on the bench.

I didn't find his comments all that bad; he was pissed at sportswriters who called his defense into question. That's silly, but not disruptive. He never said anything about the Giants management.

I think he'd be a pretty useful PH and backup infielder.
