...and most give little credit to our new comers.
Our new OC and OL coach as well as Penny and the TE should improve our run game dramatically.
Our new K and P along with Griffin should improve our ST's.
I think team chemistry will improve.
We lost lots of talent on D, but now younger guys get a chance to step up. I believe we will be more competitive this year and things are lining up better for next year.

Seabass alone gives the Hawks a better chance at the end of the games. Agreed with what you said.

? What are you talking about? Unless they trade him this offseason he’s a free agent. If they sign him, doubt they trade him and I think Earl is not going to sign unless it’s a whooper of a contract, which would be foolish for the Seahawks.
Onto the second wave of core players, don’t get nostalgic about what they ( the first wave) have done in the past.

ET is that special type player to resign unless he's asking for QB type money.

I'm sure they'd still be asking for an early to mid round pick for Thomas in return.
In return for what and from who? His contract expires after the 2018 league year is over, at which point he becomes an unrestricted free agent. If he chooses to sign with another team after that, the best we would could do is be awarded a compensatory pick as early as the end of rnd 3 in the 2020 for his departure. There's no asking for anything.

Gotta be careful with reward contracts. When you start paying players for what they have done moreso than what you expect them to do in the years of the contract, you risk damaging the team. We saw it happen with Shaun Alexander. The current regime's SA contract just may end up being Kam Chancellor. Now it's quite possible ET will still be a fantastic player into his mid-30s like we've seen some generational DB/S talents do (Rod Woodson, Ed Reed, Lawyer Milloy), but I wouldn't expect the FO to take a big financial swipe at that bet when they've drafted 2 safeties recently and re-signed Bradley McDougald....and right after getting bit by the Kam contract. No player will be here forever, not even if you give them huge money to stay.

It's been widely reported the Cowboys have been and still are interested in trading for Earl Thomas. Time to open up the draft pick vault Jerrah

Now that is a different ballgame and "might" net us something better than a 3rd round 2020 comp pick, but at this point I would be surprised if they offered anything more than a 2019 2nd rounder. So I'll echo what I think I threw out there already: what's worth more -- ET playing on the team in '18 + a 2020 3rd *or* no ET + a 2019 2nd. It may be worth considering we traded our '19 2nd rounder Duane Brown.

I'm really excited about our kicking game this season. Janikowski will be better in the long distance field goals and he's always good when needed most as you mentioned at the end of games and into overtime

Sure it can.

He was pretty solid for the first 3/4 of the year. Then the wheels fell off.

If he misses 4 or 5 tying/game winning fg's then yes it can get worse.

Right, and this guy is OLD, and overweight, so when HIS wheels fall off, it ain't going to be ... uh... subtle.

Saying that, I hope he rocks.

Jano has always been chubby. I'm actually thinking the age may be a good thing for him. I remember some stories about him being quite a partier in his younger days. He may be taking better care of himself now. His career FG% actually isn't that impressive -- wondering if it was due to them trusting him with longer kicks more often due to his big leg or kicking off a crappy surface in Oakland or a combo of both. But just for some context, if we thought Walsh was bad last year, Seabass has had FIVE seasons with a FG% under 72-ish. In 17 seasons, he's only had 1 over 90%. Only 6 over 85%. Will be interesting to see how this plays out, but we probably shouldn't expect him to nail it every time.

The guy has to be some kinda' physical freak. You simply don't see kickers who are big and fat. His ankles and ligaments have to be made out of adamantium or something. The torque and force on that plant leg and knee have to be off the charts.

He had the same operation Wolverine did and survived. LOL
