Not advocating any of the BIG money contracts that Carter or Durant signed being offered by the Cowboys, but depth at the position is thinning fast. They are both gone now.

McClain is facing trouble and may or may not be gone?

Sean is still recovering and injury prone, and we signed a similar guy in Rivers.

What gives here?

Draft LB, whats left in FA?

There's always going to be a halfway decent vet that gets cut or is waiting around later in the offseason. Plus you can get quality linebackers with mid round picks. I'm not overly concerned about this one.

Yeah the Cowboys are losing too much on defense right now.

IMO it is inevitable that the 2015 version looks more like they did in 2012 & 2013 versions than the 2014 version.

Lost Durant, Carter, and Melton. And still might lose Selvie, Spencer, and McClain (he was likely going to be significantly worse anyways as he played out of his mind during parts of last season).

then again....it's still early and who will remember this opinion when they actually start playing the games

I think Dallas was targeting McClain all along with an eye on resigning Durant or Carter if they were cheap enough. I didn't see Durant's contract, but Dallas would pay Carter anywhere near what he got. If they resign McClain that gives them (in pencil) Lee, McClain and Hitchens. That is a damn good starting trio. Injuries would be a big concern, but they have plenty of time to find a backup still. If they don't sign McClain, I'm not sure what direction they will go in and they will need to do something.

Draft this year is loaded with OLBs/ILBs, DT/DE and RBs. Dallas IMO is in a good position with their needs relative to draft availability.

I think that was their goal all along. As much as I would've liked a big free agent signing I believe any impact players they would add this year would come from the draft.

Perfect now just need to draft the right guys and get Rod to coach them into pro bowlers. I like young guys, as long as they are coachable and impact players. I never ask too much, heehee

There will be a lot of nice bargains when the crazy money stops getting doled out next week. The Cowboys can sign a couple of defensive starters with the money they saved on Murray, and will be defense heavy again in the draft

Cowboys reach agreement with LB Jasper Brinkley

(3/12/2015) The Cowboys have reached an agreementwith linebacker Jasper Brinkley, according to ESPN. Before the deal becomes official he must pass a physical.

Brinkley, 30, is heading into his seventh season in the NFL. For his career he has 248 total tackles, one sack, four passes defensed and five forced fumbles. Brinkley started 11 out of 16 games last year for the Vikings.

Gotta admit I know very little about this guy, I rarely watch or follow the Vikes
