Bruce original

cover: Manfred Mann

Both are awesome...maybe I am wrong, but MM's cover was the one I grew up with. Didn't even know Springteen wrote it for many years after hearing MM's hit with it.

Don't think I'd call it a cover because it's a different interpretation of a traditional folk song but love it:

Love this version. Gary Moore was a boss on the guitar. Also falls under the "hits that the performers didn't like" because they thought it was a one-off sort of thing and not the Thin Lizzy sound they were trying to get out.

Always liked this version of this song

Remember a long time ago los lobos was playing the after-party at the bay breakers and they sung "la bamba" to this melody at this pace. Hope I get a chance to see them again.

I was at that Bay to Breakers post race "Footstock" show at the Polo Field in Golden Gate Park. It was over 20 yrs ago and it was a good one.

I really like Eva Cassidy's version of "American Tune". Paul Simon wrote an amazing song, and I like what he and Garfunkel did with its orchestration for the studio version, and they did some great live versions, but there's something really pure about Cassidy singing alongside an acoustic guitar.
