I'm surprised Daniel Snyder went along with it. Shanny might be fired before Sunday.

And if Cousins plays well and they win their remaining games, then how can they go back to RGIII next year? It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

This is not Shanny trying to protect RG, but trying to prove that he is the problem.

Not that I agree with that but that's what I think is happening.

Me too. Then again, I was also surprised that he was allowed to limp through their playoff loss last year.

It remains to be seen how the St. Louis draft picks pan out but you have to think they are enjoying the fact they don't have to deal with this.

You really think so? Perhaps you are right. I haven't followed Washington that closely, but it seems to me that Shanahan's insistence on sticking with a badly injured RGIII in the playoffs last year and then rushing him back from surgery have been Shanahan's undoing.

I remember running my old car into the ground so I had an excuse to buy a new one.

The problem is a pocket passer friendly offense and a QB who is not a good pocket passer. That is a coaching problem, not player. Shannahan is on his way out for sure.

His undoing has been the insolence by his owner. The utter disregard for the coach and his favoritism for RGIII at the expense of his coach. I also think this is Shanahan trying to prove his point. He wanted Cousins all along. Maybe he's trying to get fired. :noidea:

LOL Seems to me that a critical difference here is that Shanahan is unlikely to get to drive his new car for long.

Pretty easy. First of all - they won't win out. Secondly - two of the three games (Falcons, Giants) are as meaningless as preseason games so I would not put much stock in those potential victories. The third is against the Cowboys who have a dreadful defense. Even if they win all three games it doesn't mean Cousins should be made the starter for a variety of reasons (& again it won't happen).

RG3 is a big part of the problem, but it goes well beyond that. The defense & special teams are awful and the coaching is a joke. Defend Shanahan all you like - he is a big part of the problem (as is Snyder). As bad as it looks I don't really care too much now - they have to put this chapter behind them.

Maybe? Try definitely. Also - don't go placing all the blame of Snyder - that is too easy of a target & is probably the reason why Shanahan had his media contacts plant these stories. So he displayed favoritism to RG3? So what? Now - if this was used to help decide when he should play & what type of plays should be run then yes that is a problem. However - if this is about going to dinner with RG3 and on occasion providing him with a limo - big deal - that doesn't just happen with the Redskins.

Ask yourself, How many starting QB's have been shown the bench the second they were out of the playoffs for the sole reason of "protecting" them.

I didn't say it did. I'm not attacking your team. The fact is, Shanny has an ego and Snyder does as well. Shanahan didn't want to trade up but his hand was forced. The animosity was borne from that. That's my opinion. It could be wrong.

what self respecting well established nfl coach will go to the skins after shannahan? no one. Washington is the new Oakland. Isn't Shannahan like the 8th or 9th 'skins coach in 15 years under Snyder, that alone is pretty telling

I believe you would be wrong.....thing is Shannahan has final Authority on the players, and the draft..It is in his contract....If Danny says we need RG and you have to get him....and Mike didnt want him...he looks at danny and says.....Go F**K yourself.....I have final say and will do what I feel is in the best interest of this team as long as I am coach and GM..you dont like it...Fire me...pay me my 20 Miliion and do what you want.....

Shannahan was coming off 2 terrible losing seasons, a failed Mcnabb experiement, he needed to win and win right away...He sees a dynamic, QB prospect just sitting there....and HE made that trade on his own, with the plan in year 1...build an offense to suit his talents....and in offseason, start to work with him to make him a better qb......Injury changed it all.......The injury which the coach should have pulled him from a playoff game, but wasnt looking at the kids big picture....he wanted that playoff win...needed it to prove he can with without elway......

No It was all Mike!!!
