I'm not to familiar with the Corsi numbers but when you put it out there, it got me interested to find out what you were talking about and happen to stumble onto the website I posted.

Yah, the numbers are very interesting for alot of the players.

MC are you into Analytics and data mining in your current job?

Not at all, but corsi numbers are interesting because they take an overall view of how effective you are for your team. It goes way beyond plus minus because it factors in so many different variables. Shots attempted shots blocked, etc, etc, and then compares them to how you do vs the other team averaged out. So as some people like to hate on +/- because there can be a lot of bad luck about, this essentially measures how much offense you generate and how much you deny your opponent.

That is very interesting.

But for everyone that hates on +/- (not anyone in particular here), show me the great player having a great year with a -30. And conversely show me the awful player with a +25. It still measures something tangible, even if you don't want to hang your hat on it.
