Where there's smoke, there's fire.
I've seen a lot of Correia-bashing on this board, but he may be the Pirates' best pitcher for at least the first half of the season. Morton is still recovering from his hip injury, McDonald and Karstens have been inconsistent this Spring, and Lincoln and McCutchen are crap, so that leaves Bedard as the only other dependable starter on the staff (if he can avoid injury).
Why, then, would anyone want to trade a pitcher (Correia) who has a reputation for fast starts when the rest of the rotation could be so shaky coming out of Spring Training? I say hang on to him for at least the first half (when he is most effective) and trade him after the All-Star Break, when he is most likely to have value.
It's important that a young team such as the Pirates get off to a good start, so they need Correia more than ever right now. Let's just hope that the erratic bullpen doesn't blow leads when he typically tires after the 6th inning or so.
