Glad to hear he's keeping a good mindset about it.

Even though I'm young in comparison to most around here, I'm happy to say that I'm old enough to understand this joke. Childhood nostalgia... Be kind & rewind

I think he likes coach Mitch a lot and grateful for the opportunity...knows his big payday is most likely via FA with a 43 front team.

Mike Hilton is gonna price himself outta PIT if he keeps this up... Steelers gambled by not paying him. Now they are forced to match any offers he gets as a RFA.

Then is an amazing nickel.

Sutton is developing into one too. I'll miss Hilton if he goes though.

Sutton developing into a start talent is definitely worth consideration long-term. But I think Hilton has done more than enough to deserve his pay day.

Steelers are not going to break the bank on a nickel, but right now these guys are looking solid across the board...even in dime. I think Hilton gave up one pass, most everything else was contested, and defended. Sutton is finally showing what the coaches have been talking about.

The natural progression here might be to let Hilton hit the FA market and make that money and move Sutton into the starting nickel job next yr. Draft and develop the next dime guy.

We were talking before the game about whether Sutton should've had the outside CB job over Burns which he did earn, but they had a plan to get #20 on the field and I think I showed that dime def screen shot he was in that pkg plus some others...he was in there for 31 DEF snaps I think I saw.

Yep. But when Haden went down he was forced outside. And he did VERY well. He should have started over Artie.

Not disagreeing with you on that, his play dictating that he should've been the next CB up, but just looking at how they played (scheme wise) vs the Chargers...Sutton was going to be on the field plenty...had the roles been reversed...I don't think Burns could've played the role that Sutton did.

Gotcha. That makes a lot more sense. Just out of curiosity, I wonder what their snap counts were BEFORE Haden went down.

Good question..Burns logged all 62 DEF snaps, Haden 41 and Sutton 31. Joe didn't go out until well into 4Q, so I would guess Sutton had maybe 12 to 15 snaps prior to Haden going out and 41 or 42 for Burns.

Well those aren’t the numbers I was hoping for Sutton, but I’m glad it worked out. I want to see his numbers rise.

Agreed...it's looking as if Nelson and Haden will be ready for MIA. If so, I'm curious to see if Sutton stays relegated to dime...(I suspect he will).

What was interesting about that screenshot pic...they were taking #28 off in lieu of #29 in dime. I assume to get a bigger body out there. I can see them trying to use the dime more in the second half of the season to get Sutton more snaps.

Honestly not sure why they didn't start Sutton and move him to the inside in Dime/Nickle situations. IE...when Burns had to come the field keep him on the outside only.

Considering they have said they like Sutton inside and outside, I'm not sure either...as @FaCe-LeE-uS has been saying for weeks and it's pretty clear to all watching, Sutton has found a comfort zone in the DEF. The best thing I can think of...maybe they didn't think he was ready to handle that kind (outside + dime) of snap count load.

If not for Bush, he might've been the MVP last game...still shocked he didn't get a game ball!

If this continues, I'm almost at the point of saying he will be the '20 starting nickel and they will let Hilton test the FA waters.

I would applaud this more if they had made the decision sooner... Kelly was killing us and it took 6 weeks to figure this out.

Play your best guys, period.

^ Their corner play is so good it made us forget they drafted Justin Layne.
