Never want to wish injury on any player, but this could be a blessing disguise. It's not that I didn't like Hart, but he was struggling and more likely than not does not have a future with us beyond this year.

His injury now opens up a spot for Nick Franklin to test his bat at the mlb leve. It also reopens the opportunity and need to possibly get Morales.

Btw how does Scott Boras feel about his stance now? He played hard ball to get Morales more money but instead he's gotten nothing. Morales is losing precious playing time as his prime years are dwindling away and all the while he isn't even getting paid.

I'm sure Scott Boras still feels very justified in his stance. And you can bet that he will be the primary ring leader to abolish the draft choice compensation for free agents at the next CBA. And you can also bet that that will be the front and center issue when they negotiate the next CBA.

The rule has the same affect that collusion did. The player's union will be out to get rid of it.

I'd wager that if any other team offers Morales comparable money, he'll go there instead of Seattle.

I'd also wager that the M"s don't even try.
