I didn't quote the story because I don't think it really changes much. It basically goes into detail about how he's vowing to become a decent human being while on the ice. It does bring up a good point about the level of intensity that he'll be playing with.

So can Cookie perform well while walking on egg shells?

That's the frustrating thing about Cooke, he is a great skater and has a good set of hands, he just has a 10 cent head and does idiotic things. Maybe he realizes this is his last chance (at least in Pittsburgh).

I feel terrible that his wife had medical issues and it has been written that he is a good person off the ice with charity events and foundations.

On the ice he is a moron. He has played this way his entire career and it will not change. Savard still cannot remember his name half the time due to this cheap shot. On a stretcher with his knee snapped in 2 would be fine for me for him.

I agree 100% Matt Cooke when he is not maiming people is a good hockey player but unfortunately he has some sort of mind cramp now and then and a guy ends up on a stretcher. I have NO issue with big hits and hard checks in fact i love them but when someone with his record continues to hurt people you have to ask why.

I have NO issue with big hits and hard checks in fact i love them but when someone with his record continues to hurt people you have to ask why.

Agreed. One-time offenses happen. Having a record makes it a pattern.
