How far back do you have to go to find another winner with a - rating? I can't imagine it happens all that often? I think SHARP had better stats than Toews or Kane for that matter. What does everyone else think about it

Edited with Sharp, had a brain fart for a min.

i thought it shoulda been kanes (they had similar numbers, but kane showed up in the finals). overall it was a hard choice though...there were moments i thought niemi for sure, then there were moments where it seemed wrong for a goalie to win it with so many games with 4GA

I'm glad I didn't have to make the pick. There wasn't one player that really dominated and as pix said the goalies were not in the mix.

There were a lot of contributors to both teams getting to the finals but really no one player stands out.

Tough call.

Christobal Huet - 100% save percentage, 0.00 GAA - how was he denied?

Well, the award is for playoff MVP, not just the SCF. Toews had a good playoffs up until the SCF where Philly concentrated on shutting him down. I have no problem with him winning it and I'm sure his teammates don't either

It is strange he ended up a minus player over the course of the playoffs especially since he almost won 100 more faceoffs than he lost.
I do think he does deserve it though but it was very close.

If the series goes 7 games, I think Pronger ends up winning the Conn Smythe, regardless of who wins the deciding game...

With Toews winning the Smythe, he gets a $1.3 million dollar bonus that counts against the cap next year. Hawks are too busy celebrating to care right now, but over the summer as they start putting together next year's roster it makes things even trickier. And they were already pretty tricky.

I think they gotta get rid of Huet somehow.

They gotta move both Campbell and Huet IMO. Both contracts are horrid. If any GM takes either and doesn't also get a young star or a prospect to go with he's an idiot because the Hawks are in a huge bind for next season and they won't be able to get out without the help of at least one team.

IMO Campbell is a goner. He was down to the fifth spot (or close to it) from the looks of things. His salary is too high to carry.
